FWA24 Report - Not Good
Well, it's another polarized FWA, but this the inverse of last year, which was shitty up-front and ended well. This time it was amazing up front and then completely awful.
- Not only was I able to get into the AA on Friday, I was also selected for the following Saturday. Extreme luck on my part, I guess.
- Print sales were great both days, and I ended up setting a new record of 147 prints sold - not including the dozen or so cheap misprints that people were interested in.
- I decided that I was going to really limit the amount of sketchbook coms I would do at table to ensure that I would be done with everything and be able to dedicate all my time to hanging out with frens. This actually turned out to be correct choice, given my unfortunate ending to the con.
Sunday morning - check out day for our room - I found out the parking lot next to the Peachtree Condos had a mass car break in - mine included. Back passenger window just exploded, car riffled through. Nothing was stolen, as I had the sense to have everything moved up to the room. Still, this meant there wasn't really a Sunday for the con - my group and I needed to leave pretty much then or else we would need one of us to stand next to the car while the other two hit up the con. I wasn't much in the mood for that - It would have been a chore, and I would have still been mad about the whole event. Not even seeing the Dealer's Den was super shitty.
Needless to say, any future FWAs are going to require me just getting into one of those three connected hotels and being able to use their more secure parking. (Or FWA could choose a less shit location in Atlanta - if possible. )
There were a few other events I've heard about FWA24 - finger injuries, bum fights, realistic cosplay guns, overcrowding - that make me less interested in FWA25. Really tho, If I can just get into a host hotel with secure parking, I don't even think I would need to leave the hotels, considering everything is connected via sky bridges. As long as there's stairs I can use or something.

Hopefully insurance will cover the car!
Or just drive in for a day, and leave before it gets too late.
Same congestion problems, but that's about it.
