Hi friends, VG Here!

I want to tell you guys the story of how I joined the fandom, since in just two or so months I will be celebrating three years in the furry fandom.

So it was 2021, and I had just celebrated turning 16 with my friends at a theme park around where I live. I was feeling sick and stiff after that, but I had just assumed it was from walking around the park all day. So I went to school and got through the day. But then I went to Cross Country practice. Cross Country is a running sport, but that didn’t always mean running on a flat surface like in Track in the spring. This sport had you go up and down hills and lots of places that made you feel like you wanted to die on the inside.

That day, we were running a timed loop through the woods behind my school. And I was feeling bad. So I asked the coach if I could take a break, but he yelled at me that if I wanted to complain I could go home. So dejectedly, I had my mom pick me up and take me home. Remember that this was during COVID-19, so you had the fear of getting it all the time. My mom wanted to test me for COVID, and sure enough, I tested positive. So now I had to stay in my room for 14 straight days doing nothing but feeling bad and doing homework.

I spent time watching movies and scrolling on a Minecraft Skin making app called Skinseed. I enjoyed making custom skins for Minecraft, and I liked making pixel art on there as well. But I found something on there that made me change forever. There were anthropomorphic animal characters on there, something called “furry”.

“Furry?” I thought at first. “Ew, we make fun of my one friend for “being” one all the time. What would my parents think if I wore an animal costume all the time?”

But I warmed up to the fandom quickly, and I discovered a species called protogens. I loved the way protogens looked, and I wanted one for myself.

So I turned one of my older characters into one. I decided it would be a “Virtue Protogen”. I eventually combined those two words into “Virtuegen”, and I nicknamed him “VG”.

He became one of my more popular characters and I drew him more and more until he was one of the things I drew all of the time. And now, he is part of my identity, and he will never fade away no matter what Troll or gamer I come across that wants to try to hate on me. VG Virtuegen is my magnum opus. HE IS ME.
