Convention Scene Help?
I wanna start trying out the convention scene, like vending at anime and furry cons. I've done one or two small art shows in the past, but they were very niche/local and only lasted like 4-5 hours, so I barely sold anything xD Afterwards, I was kinda bummed out and didn't want to try again for many years. But now that I'm in a more comfortable spot financially and can produce more art that isnt commissioned based, I feel like trying it out again.
I've been to plenty of anime cons so I kinda know what sells there, but I've never stepped foot into a furry con, and tbh I have no idea what artists actually sell there. xD If you frequent them or vend there yourself, any pointers you'd like to share?

If it's someone I don't know, I look at what appeals to me the most, either being personal characters or random one-offs. I like both humanoids and furry, tho, so I may not be the best to give advice about a furry con. XD
But still, if it looks pretty/amazing/fun to look at and I wanna keep lookin at it, I will buy it, furry or not.
One thing I've noticed about myself: I'll avoid a table if there's no one there (customer) and the artist may seem to wanna watch my every move of when I look at their stuff. Cuz then I feel pressured! And general anxiety... yet sometimes when the artist starts talking casually I feel more at ease!
LOL ive actually experienced that myself haha. I always kinda feel bad about it because im sure they probably want people to look at their stuff. But yeah I usually feel better about it if they're warm/welcoming and not pushy haha.
I probably have an abnormal perspective as a consumer being an artist myself haha. Or maybe i'm just weird, dunno! But that's my mindset on con purchases from furry artists.
Nah I totally get that perspective! Buying art of someones personal character that you have no connect to is kinda odd. If i ever wanted to promote something with my OCs on it, it probably has to be from a project thats already done haha.
Thanks though! I dont have telegram, but thats all helpful info to know!
Of course, you have to be comfortable with doing these sorts of commissions, and would also involve maybe investing in a laminator. However, they always tend to be popular, and they can be big or simple.
My Friends often times get a lot of Take home Commissions when they set up.
i hope it helps to spark some ideas~
maybe prints then?
You definitely want as loud of a banner as the convention you're going to will allow - maximize every bit of that space! The more effort you put into your stall, the more consistent you are year by year, the more people will feel incentivized to acquire your products.
