General
I noticed today is the 18th anniversary of making this account: June 22nd, 2006.
When I made this page:
-Myspace was the dominant social media platform
-The iPhone didn't exist yet
-Flash animations were reaching their peak
-AI was science fiction that was 50 years away
-George W Bush was the president
-"9/11 was almost five years ago!"
-We were still flying space shuttles
-Everyone used MSN Instant Messenger, Yahoo Instant Messenger, AIM or Skype to communicate.
-The Great Recession had not happened yet
-The PS3/Xbox360 console wars were a thing and people broke up friendships over it. The Wii was also a thing.
-"A 1 Terabyte hard drive? you'll never use that much space!"
-The furry fandom was having a big ass debate over whether digitally drawn art was "real art"
-Furry fandom sites like e621 didn't exist yet.
-Internet culture was at its peak and was uncensored
-People did not take the internet seriously
-“I lost the game” was a thing
-Meme culture was entering its golden age ("All Your Base Are Belong To Us!", Shoop Da Woop "IMMA FIRIN MY LAZER", etc. Rage comics came in 2008. Yes, this account is older than Rage Comics)
I wonder what the next 18 years will bring.

FA+

-Youtube was a year old, and back in its early days, you can pretty much upload almost anything and not get in trouble for it.
-Streaming had just barely started but their were few titles to choose from at first.
-Their were only a few furry conventions and the most attended, Anthrocon, had just 2,500 attendees, not to mention their were only like 200-300 fursuiters in existence. XD
Here is a cheers to 18 years of it!
I actually signed up here last. I started on Eka's Portal and then later SoFurry before finally deciding I should see what this Furaffinity site was all about since the EU servers of SoFurry were really slow on dialup internet. Spend a lot of time lurking without an account anywhere before that.
Yah, the internet has a self importance proble,, the old internet peopel were fine with laughing at themselves, which you don't see on the internet anymore much.
I was on Sofurry (then yigffstar) and yahoo mail groups before ever finding FA, in found this site through livejournal. Eka's i found a few years after FA. I was heavily into tranformations tuff before getting mor einto the vore part of the community. A lot of the early stuff was stories because it was text that loaded faster with dialup. Pic based stuff wasn't for a while with how thing swere situated (i had a very visible Living Room computer nuntil i was 19).
I tended to ump in head first a lot when younger, now i lrurk a lot more because I ahve less energy haha.
