Hmmm... Have you played around with any digital art programs at all? Even if you start out with a traditional piece of work, you can scan it and add digital elements (such as background, shading, etc.) to add more than you could do by hand alone. You could even try fully digitally coloring your sketches. It's certainly worth experimenting with, and seeing what works and what doesn't. The right programs can give you nearly unlimited options. :)

I have - that color picture of Alice was done entirely in Photoshop, sketched and colored. It's not very sophisticated or detailed, but it's colored, at least... I've tried various natural-media programs, but I'm not actually used to real paint or whatever; I prefer working all-digital.
