post graduate internship
I suppose I've delayed long enough in annoucing this, so here it is. I recently graduated from medical school and now preparing to undergo internship for 1 year. What this means is that there is uncertainty with my schedule, but it will most certainly be more busy than what my previous workload was in the years prior, with me spending more time on duty in the hospital and whatever free time I get is likely going to be spent studying, or recovering from what I expect to be physically and mentally demanding workload.
What this means for commissions, which have already long been limited during my time in medical school, will be even more impared for an entire year and more as after internship, I'll be studying for the liscensure exam for a few more months.
Whatever commission slots that could possibly open up will most certainlu have an extremely slow progress at best, if I am even able to accept them at all.
An important factor to consider would when asking about commissions would be the complexity and content of your script. If I am to accept commissions if time and conditions favor me, I will most likely gravitate towards ideas that are simpler to do, or which I think I find more relaxing to work on rather than being an added stress. So ideas that consist of single pictures, or small comics, simpler character designs, or an idea that I myself enjoy quite a lot as well, would more likely be accepted.
I hope that once I get past these challenges, more free time will become available in which I could be able to take on commissions with a reasonable pace.

Taking a sane focus to make sure your studies and gpa/job opportunities take a priority over life can be important. It can be important to be sober about aging reality checks. A lot of fantasy and escapism is great but i've seen some people end up in fast food jobs or retail. 2 years of them at 16-18 was enough for me to save up for school.
A lot of jobs can kinda be made or broken up by coworkers and pay. i remember looking back at my notes and i had a few things just flaked over since i had no time to do anything but study and be a workaholic. Wanting to focus on hitting the road as adulthood marches onwards sounds very responsible of you, even if maybe it's not what everyone wanted as a kid, im sure your parents should be proud though!
Hope everything keeps going smoothly for you.
Wish you the best and much success! Congrats on graduating!
May God guide you to success on your path forward!
