NGL at the start of this year I couldn't have imagined getting to where I am right now it's a bit wild.
My new girlfriend treated me to sushi & misc stuff at a local restaurant, she makes me very happy uwu We're only around 3 months now since meeting but we get along well and communication has been perfectly what I'd want from a partner. She's also encouraged me to do new things so I've been selling at local art markets [if you ever see me irl-- no you didn't. lmao tho of course feel free to say hi just don't perceive my physical existence uwu] Her friends are all really nice and I feel like an irl kinda community has welcomed me uwu
Anywho, hope everyone's been doing well! As a more general update I finally re-did my commission example images again and slightly changed what I'm offering. I think the new example images [https://www.furaffinity.net/view/48653196 / https://www.furaffinity.net/view/48653188 ] Look nice! Mini's also are slightly discounted from the price before since the style for them changed slightly but I like the look, the focus for them is always cuteness uwu
I think my arts really been progressing nicely since the start of the year

I used to struggle a lot with meshing two characters together in one scene/interaction or characters and a more abstract background not fitting together well. I also did some practice into different anatomy in more detail as well as clothing, colour and using textures without it being too... ugly, for lack of better phrasing.
All and all I just think its coming along great and my workflow in gen is getting smoother, pieces do take a little longer at times but I feel even quicker "sloppy" pieces are a better quality then ever before. Basically put I'm feeling good with how things are going.
I'm hoping to find a reasonable part time job so I can feel fully secure in money stuff since I hate feeling like I'm begging for commissions to survive but I have a place in mind and someone I met recently is sorta friends with the owner so I feel maybe I'll finally be able to get a job in my area. The job market around here is insanely unforgiving in that no one ever gets hired unless you get good RNG cause there's alota people unemployed and few places hiring plus of course they'll hire you part-time some places and then you get stuck with 42 hour work weeks which lol is NOT part-time. My body cannot keep up with full time hours at most minimum wage jobs [since youknow- they wont let employees ever sit and I have a joint condition] and I'd like to both earn rent and still have SOME energy to draw. Hard to find a balance in today's world really. Of course my dream job is basically a commission artist so I'll always be doing this on the side uwu

The examples look lovely.
Your earlier pieces were really nicely done and your more recent are absolutely wonderful. You’ve improved a lot in a short amount of time.
Things are definitely a lot tougher in the job market these days so i hope you get that job. A lot of places have had to lay people off due to things getting too expensive, especially in the food industry. Example in fast food places here in California the governor made a mandatory $20 minimum wage hike, do on top of the increased prices for the things they need for the things they sell, hamburgers, cheese, chicken etc they have to pay all of their employees at least $20 an hour + any benefits if offered. So most places are either cutting employees hours or just laying them off all together and possibly replacing them with cheaper options like burger flipping robots, putting in order kiosks instead of having humans at the cashier place. Yes, some places include Mc Donald’s is doing at least one of those things in more than one of their locations.
Not purposely trying to be a downer, it’s unfortunately a part of reality in a lot of places including California. Heck some places are just closing down multiples of their restaurants in certain cities/states for just some of but not limited to those reasons, as well as rampant crime depending on where you live. Once again sorry for being a bit of a downer. I’m definitely very happy for you and definitely rooting for you.
I do get whatcha mean about it, I do live in a country other then the states so the situation is a bit different here but not entirely lol. The minimum wage job market is affected by similar things everywhere to my understanding. My last job, I couldn't keep in part because of issues with management [like being "part-time" with 42 hour work weeks for 2 months when im disabled so I need literal part time jobs to not be decaying from the physical overwork that comes with full-times impact on me-- but management kept ignoring me saying i cannot be given so many hours with just repeatedly disagreeing when i brought it up not to mention they just hated every lgbt employee working there] We also live in a fairly druggie heavy town and I dont drive since I just cant [I know how to i just cant be on the road without a likely hood of causing an accident for reasons i wont bother getting into] so I also dont really feel safe being out after dark if I had to walk home from work for closing shifts. basically, my options for a job are already limited and this piss poor economy sure hasn't helped. Which is of course why I hope my passion for art will work out most of all. It's one of the few things I can do for hours without any repercussions on my health.

Every countries economy has been majorly affected by multiple factors, including how the virus outbreak was handled, immigration (not getting political, just stating some things that can have a major impact on multiple parts of a country’s economy) that’s unfortunate but I will say that among all the countries in the world the states is probably the most welcoming in most places for lgbt members. Absolutely even here in the states depending on what state as well as what city/county you live in it could have a very high crime and drug sells/using. Unfortunately in some of the cities in my current state of California (soon to be moving to Idaho in less then a year from now) crime, drug selling and usage is even being done in broad daylight, in front of children/minors as well. It’s just sad and honestly quite aggravating. It’s a really beautiful state but it’s been brought down so much because of certain people in charge, including the governor. I definitely hope your art takes off more. Hopefully if the economy can improve in most places, including here in the states I hope you can get lots more commissioners. Unfortunately money is tight for many at this time, including for me.
My absolute pleasure. I’m glad to hear that and same here. I’m usually not one to to give big long comments like this but I wanted to give an honest assessment without sounding too political, I always try to avoid commenting with stuff like that whenever possible as I know it can lead to a lot of tense feelings. I’ve got my opinions on those kinds of things, others have theirs. I honestly do my best to be as open minded and middle ground as possible. I’d be willing to call out the extremes on both sides, as both sides have their extremes and weirdos and those ones won’t get me on their sides.
