Tiny flie/gnats around kitty litter pan and disposal buck...
General
We have two cats, and as such we have a kitty litter pan and a bucket with which we scoop the used kitty little clumps into.
During the summer months we get these small flies or gnats that hang out around the little pan and ESPECIALLY the litter disposal bucket.
We have these things:

which DO catch some of them, but the volume of these bugs is so great that it seems like these traps just isn't enough.
So the question here is if anyone else has experience with these bugs and if you know of any other better way to take care of them.

Well, a few questions first.
1. How often do you scoop out or fully-change the litter?
2. Does the bucket have a bag in it? And if not, how often do you clean the bucket?
3. Do you use any baking soda to line the litter box or is it just straight litter?
4. Are there any drains/wet spots that regularly form near the litter box?
I ask because you might actually have something called "drain flies", which despite the name, don't always collect around drains.
Anyway, here's a link about them, in case this is what you're dealing with, and I hope that it helps.

2: The bucket DOES have a bag and we have been cleaning or at least rinsing out the bucket
3; Just straight litter.
4: No drains, and as for moisture nothing outside of the litter bucket itself.
Having looked up this issue before I does not appear to be drain flies. These bugs look nothing like any pictured drain flies that I see online.
Anyway, I found another article that might help, with one of the big takeaways being to consider a different type of litter and also washing the litterbox like once a week.

Anyway, I hope this helps.
