Seeking Advice

Hello all!
I'd like to ask a few questions, and see if anyone has any feedback for me. I've been doing adopts for a long time, many years on dA before FA, and have seen a notable decline in sales. I don't know if this is across the board or if this is the last five or six years, with how poor our economy has been. Either way, I am hoping to rectify this somewhat by trying to provide more appealing characters and sales for potential buyers!
I know that sounds terribly professional, but this is my only source of income at the moment outside of disability. I do have a SubStar for my adult work, but have had issues with people's payments not going through. This has been noticed for other smaller creators on the platform, and may have to do with activity levels. This is understandable, as I am disabled and producing art as frequently as "content creators" of today do is both very difficult emotionally and very painful physically. I have RA or another autoimmune disease which causes great pain in my hands and small joints. This is what makes custom works/non-base adopts so expensive. This is also why I no longer provide free bases, and tend to sell them from $1-$5 USD.

1.) Are there specific kinds of adopts you prefer? Ferals, fandoms, anthros, etc?
2.) Do you mind base adopts, or do you prefer to spend more money on custom drawn ones? If the latter, do you like the idea of add-ons?
3.) Natural or vibrant colors? I prefer vibrant but not hyper-complex, so my designs often reflect that.
4.) Free or paid bases? I generally use my own, or free bases, because so far I cannot justify the purchase of a P2U base. I have some old ones from dA which I bought for points, but their quality is different than the big-name base makers I see on here. I would love to use them if I could justify the purchase!
5.) Do you prefer to use FA, Ych.commishes, or YCH.art? I like the latter the most so far, but it may be a smaller community.

I know I have been slow with responses on this account, however, this is directly linked to going months and months without sales. It makes it difficult to check or re-list things constantly. I also hope not to sound ungrateful or as if I am begging. I genuinely would like to improve, because I do enjoy making designs and I do like to see what others do with them on occasion. This has always been fun for me, though in recent years I've had to prefer USD/cash to points like back in the dA days of high school.

Lots of people really enjoy video game adopts. I also end up asking a lot of my discord members what sorts of adopts they’d like to see. I used to do base adopts which were fairly popular but that was on a paid base that was a bit pricy. I definitely recommend just making adopts and at least posting once every two weeks, although more often will get more eyes on your stuff. I hope that helps!
