So I over-lurked servers in the past and fumbled them by leaving them and artists I follow don't really post invites anymore. I've been wanting to try and interact with new people again but I don't get as many opportunities anymore.
So, complete shot in the dark, I might as well ask if anyone following me would have the means to invite me in a server.
I keep flip flopping between making a long list of things I'm looking for in a server, and feeling like doing so would just reduce my chance of finding a new serverto forever lurk in to try and hang out in. I guess the only thing I can think of really needing is I'd rather it is an adult only server, even if it's a clean server. I just don't want to hang out with kids and teens, lol.
Otherwise, this hopefully short list is more like "bonus points". A server don't need everything listed here, but the more like this the better. I might also loosely put more important stuff near the top if I don't forget to order it.
- If there's a nsfw channel, I'd rather it would be vanilla near the ballpark of what I draw. Just sick of seeing stuff I don't like and prefer vanilla anthros anyway.
- If there's other artists to hang out with that be neat!
- Anthros/furries/scalies!
- I'm not looking for a huge server. I'm fine with one that isn't over 50 members.
- Friendly interaction to be on the nicer side. Like, more teasing, less being a jerk to friends cause they know it's not serious. And if the main thing people do is complain about stuff, I'm less into that too.
- This might be an odd one and is why I'm putting it at the bottom, but I'd like to be able to "post and run" (hopefully without the running). Sometimes that's the only time I get to talk to others if they comment something I can respond to, which is hard for me to begin with (you can see it with how many times I respond to comment on here with an emote that I suck at this lol.) I want to make an effort, but a rule that requires me to interact with people makes it hard to try and bother or maintain.
- Since I draw porn often I might as well mention this one even lower on the list: I'd rather not be in an overly horny server. When it comes to talking about stuff, I'm not averse to lewd, but I also don't care if a rando just jerked off, lol. I don't need to hear about it.
I forget if there's anything else. Again, this is a soft list of bonuses, not really requirements. But I might lurk harder the more stuff on this list isn't a server's jam.
Also, if someone do want to try and invite me, make a "pitch" in the comment but DON'T link to your server! I'll DM you afterwards if I want to try. And by "pitch" I just mean like, is there a theme? Is it a Dragon server? Gaming server? Artist server? But also mentioning like the vibe of the server, especially if there's not really a theme. Heck, I might not mind knowing if people's main form of play is being a jerk to one another as a warning, if everything else sounds alright, I could maybe mentally prepare myself to just know people aren't meaning it... If it's the case at least lol. but if you comment here and I don't DM you later, don't take it personally, I'm just antisocial and, heck, I might change my mind and not join any new servers. I dunno, we'll see.
This entire journal feels really awkward, but yeah I just dunno what else to do, lol. The kids might call this "cringe", but I already said I don't want to hang out with them. So, it's fine. =P

Interactions there are generally friendly, especially for an artist, you'll be encouraged to share your work on the server. You'll absolutely not be forced to reply or interact if you don't want to, but there's an entire channel for artists to post their own work that will make it easy for you if you want to.
The content is entirely furry focused, and is generally more vanilla - you can check Canis's gallery, and that's about the level of what gets shared in our art channels. We have one artist in there who likes to post hyper but they generally put it behind a spoiler tag so you won't need to see it if you don't want.
I would say that, even though it's centered around furry art and porn, the server's not too horny. In fact we have channels for more in-depth intellectual conversations, sharing of cool non-porn comic panels, and even language and linguistics - though they're only occasionally used, again we're pretty small.
I think that's enough in the way of a pitch - if you happen to like Canis's stuff, or my pitch sells you that it's a server you'd like to be part of, send me your DM! I'll happily get you an invite.
now, point number 4 is where you might have some issues, since we've all known one another for so long we are pretty comfy with some heavy teasing one another, but this treatment isn't passed to new users and users respect when being told that something made them uncomfy or upset them. (Preference to handle this in dms if it cannot be civil, I have a zero tolerance to public bickering.)
The vibe that's there is pretty welcoming to people who join, We have our "Sulky sallys" like all servers do, but they are reminded to go to venting for that kinda stuff. I've noticed a rise in "puppy boy" vibes from a few of my members. It *can* get pretty loud sometimes when we start messing about with one another. It's just a bit of a "Take a chance to see the vibe" if you want! Express boundaries as you need and if they aren't respected I can handle it as the lack of respect of boundaries isn't what I want in my server.
I can certainly think of some more if I go through my server list.
I've built up a pretty significant community myself. Nothing wild, just shy of 300 with a measure of lurkers, but the regulars are pretty active. We're fairly formal and don't do the harsh teasing stuff, is SFW but also adult-only. We accept all sorts of folks, with scalies/furry artists currently being our prime demographic among video game speedrunners/challenge players, artists, tabletop enthusiasts, just to name a few. It's a bit small, but I'm hoping I can grow this to a comfortable size to make it really feel like a community proper. ♥
