Fare thee well, Dragoneer
I'm sorry I only ever post when something bad happens, and yes, I know people are probably sick of these journals by now... but as ones muzzle get greyer so does ones sentimentality grow, and I'd really like to share some thoughts...
I've loved TF all my life, and lurked on DA and Transfur back in the 2000's, before finally getting the courage to share what I drew in the 2010s... But as the drawings become too NSFW for DA, and Transfur being a tad too small, FA became the natural focal point for me in my haydays, and his name had ever been closely associated with the site.
It is true that the furry scene had existed long before FA, but the modern furry scene wouldn't have emerged from the primordial soup of sparkle dogs, lion king OCs, and confused anime fans without the cohesion brought by FA, and FA wouldn't be what it is/was without Dragoneer.
For all the controversy that I'm only vaguely aware of, he can at least be credited for bringing us weirdos together. Being a 'furry', however you define it, had always carried some kind of stigma on the internet, especially so in the early internet days. I guess I'm just really thankful to have this safe space that we may express ourselves.
Fare thee well, Dragoneer, I don't know you personally, but I'll forever miss the era you represent in my mind, and be forever thankful for this space you've built.
