Sometimes, I think I might be going crazy and making things up whenever I try to explain something to people. Either that, or they don't seem to care about what I say.
Like, there was this one cartoon I'm sure I've seen before. I know I saw it on TV years ago. I think it was about a cricket, and he was able to make music by playing his wings like a violin. I believe it was a Christmas special or something. Does anybody remember this or am I making things up? I don't think you know this about me, but I have so much nostalgia for the Rankin-Bass animated holiday specials and stuff like that.
It does sound familiar. Past that, I have no idea from where this very vague memory even comes from. And like the above poster notes, Pinocchio has a cricket character. (Off hand, that's the only main character I am even familiar with in the slightest.) Granted, I've never seen the movie past a bazillion memes over a thousand years. So... maybe from that movie? But... what I seem to remember is that Jimini would have been playing a violin with the world's smallest violin.
But, with the wings? Makes a lot of sense, as the real creatures do just that. (Much to the hate from my ears. Ugh... such high frequencies.) Could be a minute snatched out of anything.
Never mind. Turns out that the animated special that I'm thinking of is "A Very Merry Cricket", which was produced by Chuck Jones. I don't think I've seen it in such a long time, except for a few bits and pieces.
That should be a name and an idea that would be memorable. Can't say that I've ever heard of it, though. Still... a super faint memory of some scene from something about a cricket playing music with its wings is there.
