Gargoyle Golem Lore & Address
Well.
This took off.
Hello! If you're looking at my journal and have been following me on twitter you might have seen a commission I got from poppychips involving a Gargoyle transformation via an enchanted plinth.
It's grown a little popular. 150 favs/1500 views for the final stage on FA, and a whopping nearly 2K Likes and 500+ bookmarks on Twitter at time of writing and climbing, and I am now actively receiving DMs and asks about the idea and if it's free to use.
Which it is!
I've compiled a lore document and "species" study on google docs that you can access here for a full rundown on the hyperfixation fueled, holy-shit-this-ignited-my-muse-fierce lore of the species. Do keep an eye on it! As I've been drip feeding bits and pieces of lore and snippets over time. Enough is here, however, that I'm perfectly happy making it public in case people were looking for guides on how to 'goyle up!
I will fully admit that this documentation was, in part, inspired by nominu and their works/arts featuring their golem designs. I mostly wanted a lighter and softer take on their petrification pieces, a kind of converted golem that keeps/has their personalities and don't suffer any sort of identity death, but are still slightly optionally beholden to their creators.
I will always be open to questions and comments!

I suppose my first question would be: Can converted human gargoyles also use magic/mana on their own? If they were mages before the process.
Think of like, the Atronach sign from Elder Scrolls of you’re familiar. :3
Glad to see someone exploring "lighter and softer" petrification. There's not enough that explores being a different substance altogether and getting used to it.
Also, could the Soul of the convertee also double as the Power Source? Honestly curious about how that would turn out.
A “bug” in Ana’s glyph left it so Ren didn’t have the juice to move after he was converted, but the initial petrification spell in it was casting over and over, which his new filigree parsed as “adding to the duration”.
The convertees soul as a power source would burn said soul for energy, which is uh, not a favorable method of gaining power and part of the reason why a Soul Glyph is not a good idea.
And makes sense.
I like the different power sources too, so it's customizable in that sense.
