Job Update: It is official!
The long, painful ride is over.
I got the job offer in my hands - at least as a PDF - as good as I can get for a guarantee for the position. I will be starting October 7th. It is a month away, but I can afford to wait that long. I'm still unable to access the company's HR site so I can digitally sign on their end, but my supervisor and the recruiter are working hard to get this resolved. I've verified that it is a remote position and it is paying more than my old job, so I'm over the moon! I might have to go to Tacoma for orientation, but very willing to do so.
And I just spent the last hour sending generic 'Thank you for considering me, unfortunately I am no longer avaiable' emails to the companies that continued to give me the time of day with interviews and such. This included:
- A 911 operator position that actually kicked me out before I could tell them I was not available. I aced their software and typing speed tests, but apparently I don't have the mental ability to be such an operator. Oh well.
- A state patrol comm officer spot that demanded as part of its process, I spend hours travelling across the state for a polygraph test I have to pay for, including parking and gas, and also having to order official transcripts and pay for a driving record report. All that would have cost me about $150. HELL NO.
- A company whose recruiter sent me one tiny Zoom link initially, then replied aa bunch with MS Teams links, then got pissy when I followed the Teams links as I assumed they were the most updated.
Not gonna miss THOSE.
Thank you all again for your support, your warm wishes, sage advice, and supportive shoulders. I will be looking into taking some sort of vacation - saving money now for it - but maybe using some of my Alaska air miles to go visit my mom. Maybe visit friends in Portland and Seattle and Vancouver... or maybe something else. I'll have to give it some thought as to what to do.
*hugs all around TIGHTLY*
