First Con at EF 2024

So after some hard pestering from a few friends and almost missing the cut off date. I gave in and went to an actual convention, EF28 in Hamburg.
As I have never had any integration with anyone from the fandom irl, as it practically doesn't exist in my home country, I can say I was sceptical and nervous about the whole ordeal of traveling alone to
Germany to do something so very out of my comfort zone. Even considered not getting on the train in the station as it pulled up.
Though, 5 days, 4 parties, and 92 538 steps taken. I can say I am glad I didn't let the intrusive thoughts win.
Once I had gotten over the initial culture shock of having fur-suiters demand hugs and pats, six hundred and twenty one jokes from the convention managers and the iconic howling of the audience. I started to ease up, and have fun.
Although it did take me many days to work up the courage to ask suiters for a photograph, despite giant signs saying "HUG ME!".
It was great meeting friends I had made online for the first time and going around to meet artists I had only known by name and commissions. Especially when the nightlife came out and I very much got to enjoy dancing with those on stage and drinking the night away with new friends I had made. Regardless if my legs felt sore and like lead the next day, the con demanded attending, and the dance floor demanded shredding! Unfortunately the wine list could improve, but I'll let that slide for now :P
So safe to say it was well worth it and had an amazing time towards the end. Already missing that the lovely mini-holiday is over. Though I do now 100% plan to go again with my fear of giant derg costumes eclipsed, especially after getting picked up and stolen by a red striped canine in the lobby.
Though finally, it also makes me want to do nothing but get back into making more 3D content. It's something I always enjoyed and seeing/listing to artist talk about their projects and just fun of creativity, I want to get back into doing it myself.
For any of those new friends and acquaintances who I met there and made it such a good time, thank you!
And I'll see you in 2025!
