Well That Was Awkward

Not sure if anyone will read this but I figured I'd share it here anyway
I went out with some old High School buddies this past weekend, after going to a few clubs/bars we where standing outside one bar on the sidewalk when a few other people who graduated with us bumped into us and we all started talking about the usual catching up banter like college, work, are ya married/kids, etc
Now when I went to high school I was mostly chill and slept through school so I didn't talk too much so unless you where a friend or in a class where I had to talk I kinda flew under the radar
As we sat there talking, one guy who is standing right next to me mind you, just out of left field goes, "Damn, whatever happened to Cornchip? Remember that motherfucker? Dude was always fucking sleeping XD!! I always figured he was getting high and just didn't do shit in class, wouldn't surprise me if he was dead by this point, hahaha"
*Awkward ass silence with some people groaning at the "joke" and my friends looking at me*
CC21 - "Yeah, I wonder what Cornchip is up to these days >.>"
*Guy reads the room, turns and looks at me, scans me, thinks about it, eyes go wide and mouth drops when he realizes I've been standing there next to him drinking and talking for 2+ hours*
He apologized and gave me a bro hug, said he didn't mean it really and was just poking fun and honestly didn't recognize me, which to be fair it had been 15 years since he saw me and I'm taller, bit more muscle, beard, and my voice is deeper, so to him I was someone completely different and I laughed it off and we all kept on hanging out
But a part of me was kinda mixed, on one hand I was like, "Damn...I was the junkie sleep kid? How dafuq did I get that label? The sleeping part yeah, but drugs? I didn't hang with the stoner kids, didn't drink, and hard drugs was a hard fuck no...though a few stoner kids where cool with me, but that was just because I was chill and had a DS that I'd play during gym after I finished our mile run/random task for the period but never smoked or hung out otherwise" and then my other side was, "Oh hey, someone remembered me...neat"
But yeah, always "nice" when ya get a small glimpse of how other random people see ya when they think you're not around XD

I was a quiet nerdy kid who sat with my best friends everyday as we all played Euchre at lunch and when we graduated one told me that for the first year I knew them and when I wasn't around, they would discuss that they thought I was going to come into school on day and start shooting people . . . I was never sure how to take that as the thought never once crossed my mind so for a long time I wondered if that was the image I was projecting.
It was about as bad as the teacher that thought I was suicidal, I just thought she was being nice to me but it turns out she was constantly checking on me to make sure I wouldn't hurt myself. She didn't even have a reason other she just said I looked like the kind of kid that was suicidal . . . wow thanks for that love to know that's the vibe I give off apparently.
He's a cool guy that doesn't afraid of anything. :3
But yeah, HS peeps are uh... HS peeps, some are really cool lifelong friends and they're not to be considered HS friends but lifelong friends, others well they're just ppl u met in HS and ya don't really miss em.
but ye, jokes aside, can't really control how most people will think of ya... I think of it myself every now and then
