I'm worried about the future
General
Since a year, I have a bad feeling about my art, not many people take commissions from me, almost never since a few months.
However until last year, when I posted a journal for say I'm open for commissions, it was full under 24 hours, now if I have chance, I have 2 or 3, and my prices have risen very little since then.
YCH auctions are often unsuccessful too, compared with previous years.
I don't know what to think, if there is a problem in my style of art, or because I'm not very social, I have a very discreet personality and I don't speak often, same thing for talking about my problems.
I never asked to my watchers what kind of scenes they prefer to see with my YCH, I think I should have asked a while ago.
So feel free to tell me what you would prefere to see in my YCHs.
Good day to all!

But I know it’s also tough on money right now with many people are well so that could be another reason
Believe me, I wish I could take part in your most recent YCH or a commission, but I just don't have the money for it.
1. A lot of artists do YCH's, FA is flooded with them and since many are auction based people simply don't have the spare cash. Some fall by the side. Which leads to...
2. Money; money is tight for everyone around the world. Furs are usually always struggling and getting commissions is a once in a while treat. It's not a reflection of you, it's just the sad state of affairs with the global economy.
I am noticing however from time to time that not everything that someone posts shows up in my list of images to check out!!! Sometimes I look back at an artist's history and some pretty current posts, look new to me and am I'm shocked I haven't faved them.
One more thing: haven't you done a lot less shading in the last 5 months than before? Maybe this is stopping furs if they use that as a refence.
And about shading yes it's quite true.
Just when you're open I'm broke (lol) and when I do have monz you're usually closed ( > 3 <)9 I think just bad timing on my part in most cases.
In regards to others, I suggest what others have, try to experiment with different body types a bit more and also some different dynamics/themes again. I do love the YCHs you do and they are always so sexy and juicy honestly speaking.
Another idea is why not try dabbing into some adopts/designs to sell. I know some artist often do that to fill in some of the void they have from lack of commissions, but I know that can be just as time consuming as taking a comm, so I don't blame you if you'd rather not.
Indeed I'm not very in the creation of adopts/designs to sell because that take to much time for imaginate all, and make sure the character doesn't look like an existing one x)
Most of your art is with very bulky characters and styles, nothing abit leaner, everyone seems to be a "strongman". It works for quite some characters, but on some it looks not to my personal taste.
Another thing is that most draws are quite human like. I am one who tends more to the beasty side. Sure here and there it fits well, but for me it's again, looking off, too "normal" and such
It's mostly an economic thing. I want to buy a commission from you. You draw hot daddies in hot poses. But I have to choose between commissioning art or putting gasoline in my car to go to work. A few years ago, inflation wasn't such a crushing weight and people had more disposable income to pay for art.
Your art is good! Being social with your watchers, doing a telegram or a discord and chatting a little wouldn't hurt. Obviously if you're being social, then you aren't drawing. So there's time management considerations there. It might solidify your core group of a dozen frequent commissioners. That could be a life-saver if you find yourself in a financial pinch. It opens a road to open emergency commissions if you need them (provided every 1st of the month isn't an "emergency" - people get tired of that)
Keep doing what you're doing, and look at your former commissioners. Look at their favorites if they have them turned on. See what else they like- beyond your art. What themes, races, poses, scenarios they fave en mass. Try to mix a little of those themes in with your YCH offerings. That's research that's worth it's weight in gold; you know people who have bought art from you in the past, and you know what those people like- that's your core market and where that market is headed.
It's a hard place to be. You're using your art to make an income, but the world economy is in the shitter right now, and people don't have pockets deep enough to splurge on it until inflation abates and real wages rise to match it. It might be a bumpy year or so until the world economy improves.
If you're friends with any gray muzzles around this site- the type of friend where you can pick their brain maybe ask them how they handled the 2008 recession / housing market crash as a commission artist? This economy has similar vibes.
The last thing you want to do is raise your prices more, in fact, you should be lowering them. It's all economics at this point.
And honestly in the last few years my business practices and skill have gotten so much better, so I don't understand what the deal is.
Some folks throw around " the economy" as this nebulous blanket explanation. Which I'm sure that is a piece of the puzzle. But when you have thousands of followers and you just need 5-10 folks to buy something? It really doesn't explain it. When you need less than 1% of your follower base to actively purchase and engage with you - and they don't?
Part of it feels like general apathy, or folks just wandering from different platforms ( then wondering why they don't see the art like they used to)
I'm really sorry about this man, but I do totally feel you.
In any case, it made me feel better to post this diary and get feedback because I was beginning to have doubts about my art. Thanks to everyone's comments here, I think I can now try to adapt to the situation.
The cheese you were enjoying until a year ago has dried up.
Put on some shoes and go look for another one.
1. Reach out to untapped audiences who don't know about you but might like your style.
There is Twitter, NSFW channels on discord servers, graphic novel developers, and others.
2. Try increasing the quality, reducing the price, or both for your works.
This raises the temptation of buyers; if they were on the fence before, this will convince them!
3. Use catchy journal titles like you did now, to attract buyers.
Try using raffles, trades, or gifts every once in a while to entice people to interact with you more often.
4. Like you guessed, survey current watchers for feedback and ideas.
((I just realized I didnt fav your stuff. Imma go do that now!))
I like your works: 20583645, 33318737, 42515517, and 55517467. (That means I fapped to them).
I also noticed they are mostly solo...
If I can comment... Your composition is hit or miss. The brain automatically decides if something is pretty or not based on balance, not fetish. Let's go through ways to improve your composition:
A lot of your stuff has light colored backgrounds, simple lighting/high brightness to it, and no execution of color theory except for simple shading or glowing. Try experimenting with your color choices and fur texture.
A lot of the canvas is filled with solid shapes within clear defined frames. It gives the feeling of stuffiness or crowding. Try picturing your characters in-between the movement, or have consistency in the physics if you choose to use aa certain pose, eg a deep thrust.
EG: 58305195 feels like the bull is pulling out based on his movement/bent knees, he looks like he can thrust in, yet the bulge already looks as if it was pictured during a moment of thrusting in, same with the cum spilling out, it looks like the cock slammed in and some sprayed out from the top, which wouldn't happen if he was pulling out. Thus some of the physics is not quite there.
Picture the camera height lower and shot with a wide angle, giving the main focal point to that bulge in the middle, with the leg slightly raised, dividing the bulge in the middle, and the left with the bull and the wolf's cock, while the right of the screen can focus on the struggling hands and facial expressions of both characters. The wider camera shot will make the room feel bigger, and make us feel closer to the characters as well as add some more negative space, feeling less like we are viewing something framed, and more like we are there and participating (albeit sitting down).
Rework the lighting so the bulge has a glow behind it, rather than blending in with the shadow of the wall, highlighting the muscles and rear of the bull with that warm yet bright light, which also amplifies the expression on the wolf (tbh he seems a little too relaxed in this).
It's very nitpicky, but you should do your own research into composition for digital art. See what you feel comes natural to you. Once the quality improves I am sure many people will want a commission.
Try amplifying color contrast by using built-in filter tools in your drawing program or playing with harsher lighting.
My reason is that low contrast is a problem: Our collective beast brains see shiny color = click.
So don't worry, the problem isn't you big bear <3
I'll try to support you and your art whenever i can <3
Thank you ❤️
