I just finished reading the Sonic IDW Annual 2024, and had a little theory about Surge and Kit. I think they are both slowly becoming there true selves although still a bit warped by the brain washing. I feel like Surge was the type who really liked helping others but lacked the power to do much before her modifications. The ultimate irony would be if she idolized Sonic and wanted to be just like him. Thus got tricked into becoming what she is now. As for Kit, I feel like he was someone who looked down on other and hated society to begin with. So I feel like Kit chose to be augmented willingly so that he could have real power but in the end lost his own free thinking due to Starlines brain washing. Now that he is starting to break free of his programing his true arrogant and twisted nature is shining through.
