My Mom Passed and I need Help.
On October 15th 2024, in the afternoon I lived my worst nightmare. I found my mom (65) passed away in her bed - this was a sudden an unexpected shock that left us reeling from the impact.
The past week I've been in nothing but a fog trying to cope with the pain and stress of the situation.
I had only lost my father in January of 2023 and not even two years apart I lost my mom too.
skidd and myself have been living with my parents since 2020 due to COVID and we had plans to move out in 2022 - but my father got sick and spent 7 months in the hospital in 2022 as he deteriorated horribly. Then passed in January, since then we've stayed to assist my mom with her bills and keeping her house. They've owned for 29 years and my dad poured everything into trying to have something, they struggled for awhile. So we felt pretty obligated since none of my siblings cared to/had the finances to help.
The issue now is she died without a will and in order to get everything transferred into our name we'll need legal help as well as trying to pay off her funeral expenses.
I've never ever needed help quite like we do now, I don't have anywhere else to go with my family. My sister cannot pay for the home and my brother already has a mortgage. We'll be seeing a lawyer October 29th for a consultation.
So if anyone could find it in their heart to share or contribute it would mean the absolute world to us.

I lost my Dad earlier this year (January '24), so I know the pain all too well. A will wouldn't be necessary if they had the forethought to put someone else's name on any deeds/titles/licenses necessary, which is what my parents did with me when it seemed like Dad wasn't too long for this world. That also avoids any kind of taxes when it comes to title/deed transfers.
If possible, look through any safes or lockboxes that your parent(s) may have had, hopefully one of them had a life insurance plan that could pay out some amount (once you get certified death certificates from a funeral home).
I appreciate the help though.
And I wish you both the best in finding the legal help you need to get through this very difficult time.
Once again I am so terribly sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences go out to you and the rest of the family in these difficult times.
Please take as much time as you need to recover, and I hope you guys manage to get the financial assistance you need.
I'm just hoping things go smoothly from here on out.
I'm so sorry for your lost.
My best wishes for you reaching to te goal!
