SteamVR troubles | Update on 3D renders
General
Sooo, 2 of my 4 base stations (2.0) died suddenly within the span of like a week.
One is like 4 years old (got it with my original index kit in Oct 23rd 2020), and the other is only two years old. (got it on 19 June 2022)
So that's about $500 USD down the drain. (with our import taxes and all)
What's the cause of it? I have no fucking clue, actually!
All 4 of my stations are plugged into one socket, so it's not power surge that's for certain.
Whatever the case is, I need to buy two new ones, while hoping my other stations don't die anytime soon (which they realistically will)
Now for the render part of the journal
I am opening for blender render commissions to hopefully buy two new base stations. Or at least cover a part of their cost.
Not sure on pricing, it's going to be "pay what you want", but I want to get everything back on track as soon as possible.
The renders will be done in Blender Cycles as I usually do using YOUR rigs (vrchat avatars work as long as you have the unity project which I can take things from and convert into blender)
I am capable of doing about 1 render per day on average; If it's an easy one, I might complete 2 a day.
So as long as the queue isn't too long, the timeframe of getting a render is very quick.

If you want to signal-boost this situation, please share this journal, or the short post on Bluesky or Twitter

You probably already know this, but base stations can burn out if they aren't put into standby mode when not in use (in the case of the Index, the light needs to be blue to indicate it's in standby). If they aren't, they effectively run in full functional mode all the time, wearing them out a lot faster.
