Why I wanna see AVATAR so bad...
I know I wanted to see this movie since I stumbled over the first trailer on youtube. The moment I saw it something in my head shouted ALBION.
What's Albion?
One of my favorite PC games ever. As far as I know not many people know it and because it's an old game, the young ones probably will never know it. It's from 1995 if I remember right and it's an RPG. The overworld features the normal top-view you see in many RPGs or action adventures, but the cities and dungeon switch to a the sort of first view like you know it from shooter games like DOOM.

You're a pilot aboard a spaceship that's to check out a planet which, accorind to the computer, has more than harsh conditions to live on or none at all. On a little exploration trip your ship crashes and you wake up in a lush tropic surrounding with the local cat-like folk tending your wounds from the crash.
Despite the color, a more cat-like face and the females having multiple breasts, the Iskai of Albion look quite a lot like the Na'vi what goes for the build. Tall, slender, long neck, long tail... I can't help it but think that Cameron played some Albion himself.

But yeah. I don't give a shit about the director or the hype abround the movie. I just totally love the fact it brings me so many wonderful nostalgic moments back and that's why I'll go to see it, if it sucks or not (yep, I know a few people that didn't like it).

I hear complaints mostly because it's 'too long', but it's wonderful every minute of it.
I just saw it today and was blown away. You cannot tell the CGI from the real props, it's crazy. As JohnV said, the characters are wonderful and the alien world is really well thought out :) The plot is maybe a little funky, but it works fine, and it suits the film. Highly recommended in 3-D, really feel like you're in there.
I think it's people that try to analyze everything to dead and can't just sit back and enjoy a movie, I can't explain it with anything else.
Also a lot of people complain that they can't enjoy it because the story isn't a new idea, that it's been done before. Pfffft... good stories are timeless and transmutable.
It's all about HOW it's told.
The majority of response to Avatar has been positive. I've seen it, it's fantastic, it's groundbreaking. ( Trust me, I'm a film student! =p )
Plus, the Na'Vi are hot.
There are always a bunch of fools with a voice who cry something utterly stupid like "this movie is trying to send this politcal message." or some other belch.
Trust us, it's best to ignore that stuff.
I hadn't ever heard of it, so thanks for the heads up!
Also, Avatar is very easy to enjoy! If you can appreciate beauty and well-designed things, you will like the experience. The world is built down to the smallest detail, and it's amazing... See it in 3d if you can!
seriously
the movie is awesome. however im not gonna mess you the movie so im not gonna tell you anything about it, other than ITS AWESOME~~~ probably first movie EVER that i've wanted to see 2 times more in the cinema. i want to see it in 3d now :P
