Jesus, that's incredibly messed up. I've been helping an artist friend through a similar situation (a long time client tooked advantage of their trust to ghost them on a bigger comic's payment among other things) and it's always awful to see.

For it to happen a lot in the past, for you to tell that person multiple times then be incredibly polite about it AND THEN for them to try and sweep it under the rug and gaslight everybody and then you...That is appalling and scummy behavior. You're not in the wrong to call them out and I totally understand why you wouldn't want to do trades after that. It's the same mentality as why artists accept payment up front, to avoid this exact circumstance.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that, not just from her but from other people in the past.

I could take these things just fine, it sucked, but I don't like drama so I don't intend on showing around who else did the same, but asking for things on top of that and to accept what she was calling me is really the type of scummy I won't stand for.

As for your friend it is of course fully justified to let as many people as possible know about that scammer. Anything to do with money it's just inexcusable.

And trust me, that whole thing with my friend is a big rabbit hole, not only the missed payments, but him pressuring intimate art of them together onto her that made her uncomfortable, tokenizing her as his trans friend while secretly being super transphobic while they weren't even close, and way more stuff involving gaslighting and other bigotry.

It's a huge rabbit hole and I won't name names at the moment cause she still needs to settle things with him privately in order to get her money from him, and cause I don't wanna cause random drama in your comments lmao

Of course, those things take time, I hope everything reaches a satisfying conclussion in the end.
