...Just Saw Mufasa

supportspeciesdiversityWell ok I finished it 2 hours ago, but I got dragged away by a small group of people...I mean my friends.
So I wasn't online for a little bit, we got Pizza.

And...well...my honest thoughts...its full of Holes that a TLK fan can see, maybe even people who aren't part of the TLK Fandom could see them (Assuming they've even saw the 1sst ORIGINAL Animated movie from 1994)
But...weirdly. I think the movie Overall was waaaaAAAAYYYY better then I was expecting, and sure as fuck better then "The Lion King - REMAKE" (2019)
Insert the people who'll say - "That ain't saying much" -eyeroll-
Now, a few details without spoiling the movie (Not that anyone would probably care....but Im still respectful of it)
The movie feels like its a stolen fanfiction, with the characters replaced with Mufasa & Taka / Scar (His Original name) and a few other familiar characters. So, I can pretend if it was just a fanfic, its honestly pretty decent.
But now as a TLK fan, looking back at the Original movie, they definitely kind of....forgot, or ignored alot of things from the Original movie, that just seem absent. And alot of events happen that its like....why was this never brought up in some way?..... If many of these events were ever loosely mentioned in the original movie, we would have a VERY different outlook on everything, especially with Mufasa and Scar.
Timon and Pumba have literally NOTHING to do with the movie and literally don't contribute to it.
Which...is good. Because when I saw them in the 1st Trailer, my inner nerdrage fired off "THEY WERE NEVER THERE OR MET MUFASA, AND IF THEY DID, WHY DID THEY GET SPOOKED WHEN THEY SAW SIMBA, AND WHY DID THEY NEVER TALK TO HIM ABOUT HIS FATHER!??"
So, they were just there as just familiar and useless extras to make jokes and give side commentary, because the movie is told as a story by Rafiki (So maybe we can blame him for blemishes)
And...for the 3rd time in a row....."Scar's" backstory on how he got the Scar, and the Name...is different.
Just....why can't Disney be consistent...he is one of their most popular Characters, part of one of their BIGGEST AND MOST POPULAR IPs / Films, and they cant even get it right!.
To end....I like how they told the story, despite MANY plot holes and obvious changes.
These things do damage the original mythos and lore of TLK and brings alot of things into question about the 1st Original 1994 Movie.
But, I shouldn't be surprised, looking at what is happening to Star Wars.
But I can still be surprised, the Movie was not absolute Garbage like the Trailer made me believe.

The choice to Dial back on the Hyper-Realism and give the character near human Expressions, was 1000% the right move.
I kinda dealt with it in the 1st movie. I just....kinda accepted it even with how bad it was. I knew what I was getting into. And just like the Ugly Sonic...I was gonna watch it anyway....as a Fan.
But them doing away with that in this movie and made the characters actually EMOTE, felt really good.
The VA work was even pretty decent....although the musical numbers & singing....to me could be better....but whatever. Im not the right person to critique Music.

I think an 8 is to strong....and I think a Flat 7 is to low. so ill go in the middle!

Suddenly, it makes sense why they're not consistent.
A remaster would keep everything the same, just when an updated coat of paint......while a Remake, is literally Remaking it from the ground up. So things will be different and changed. Iv elearned to accept that.
But I also Understand...as a Sonic Fan, and as a TLK Fan, that it can suck to see what happens to things you love and grew up with get changed and ruined.
Although Sonic is a rarity that its working and people (myself included) actually love it. Even if my inner nerd will point out things...its still overall really good!
Hopefully they start a trend that "Making the customer & Fans happy = success"
The people who help fund these things. They are bigger issues then the CEO.
Because everything is profit driven...a return on investment, and they are to busy chasing trends on what makes money.....
which is why we need to start and solidify the trend...of...Listening to the customer/ fans & respecting the product.
If Sonic can start the trend of Caring about the property and its Fans = Money Profit....then thing will look great.
I had a hardtime trying to watch it again on Disney+
Lion King 2019...just good luck. But maybe you'll hav emore tolerance then me XD
But Mufasa....id say its worth a watch. I can see myself watching it again. Its enjoyable despite the holes.
If the backstory was so intereesting, they should have done it first.
But we know the reasons for the remakes, reboots, remasters and prequels.
But I will say, learning where Taka / Scar comes from is more interesting, since he is the Villain of the OG movie so its interesting to see what lead to it.
Well....sure. But I think all of that could be good for the newer generation, because not everybody is just gonna go back and watch the old Original 1994 Animation...even if its good.
Just like how people like me are not gonna go back and read THOUSANDS of chapters of Old Comics after seeing The MCU Movies.
These things can be good.
The only issue, is when they DONT do it good.
These days I would prefer if they did something new and planned for sequels or sequel shows by seeding them in the first one, but still make them so they can be enjoyed as stand-alones.
It would also be nice if it could be GOOD. Which, just doesn't seem possible.
But, videogames every so often nail it...maybe someday movies will eventually get it.
Its hard for me to even recommend if you get drunk.
Mufasa......in MY personal opinion.....is worth a watch, even knowing it will have holes in its story.
...but I think it does a good enough job attempting to tell that story.
If it did, then people would be alot more accepting and engaged with this "Live-Action" Prequel.
Because also, a good handful of things would be contextualized,
The only thing that changes about Scar, is how he got the Scar, which is told 3 different times.....in the very old Lore that TLK fans know, retold again in The Lion Guard...and then its told again in Mufasa.You could use that reasoning in He Lion Guard because Scar is dead in that "Timeline" and it was told as a funny story by someone else.
But the original Lion King Lore, and this Prequel.....it should match.
