https://www.furaffinity.net/view/55619625/ So here we are, it has finally happened- after avoiding it and rating it as #1 as bad, I did taste it...
Before we do see about my rating of it, let's hear chef Matt say something about it...
Well, to honestly say, as I have gone on and tasted it raw, Oh, it would give the pepino melon a bit more taste than how this drupe has! There is a TINY bit of juice in it, but it wasn't too tasty- it is close to having to be like water, but it was SO dry and yes, if you can describe it as tart and astringent-y, that is what you would have. The pulp is quite starchy, but it is as dry as perhaps a cooking unripe banana, but they do have more taste even if you ripen them. I did ripen the quince after buying one for $3.99, and still, no way to tell from an unripe one from a ripe one.
Really, as you can see, when it comes to eating it, you will have to have some work into eating one hard fruit-the core is like wood! To tell you the truth, I have just tasted a tiny bit when not cooked, and there is not much good you can say about this fruit.
Well like for most people with their way of eating quince, they do cook them, and that is what you're supposed to do. The way I did mine was different from Matt's- I boiled them.
I took it from this person:
OHHHH, there was no taste in this after boiling for 5 minutes and letting it cool! 👎👎 And to put more salt to the wound (No, I did not eat salt with the cooked quince.), there is an aftertaste that even while brushing teeth, it lingers on for a while!
Baking it, I have not tried, but to have this taste and to take such time to prepare it on the basis of how expensive it is at the supermarket, this is such an overpriced fruit, and I can't fathom how ungustatory it is. I will not say disgusting, it would have been something that would taste like poop that would make me say so, but this fruit is not it. It is edible raw or cooked, but with how you will have to prepare this fruit to eat, it is not worth the money for me.
It was just one bite of the raw quince-and it was as bad as the guava as #3, but you can ask me if I can pick my poision (No, the fruits aren't poisionous-it's a saying I used, if you get what I mean.), I would rather go for the guava, and even the pepino despite it would be more watery. I thought it would be better when cooked and warmed, but I'm wrong!
SO FINALLY, I TASTED QUINCE, AND THOUGH I ATE IT ALL COOKED, STILL, THE LIST IS FOR THE RAW FRUITS I ATE- FOR THE QUINCE, IT WAS JUST 2 RAW BITES, & I SAID, "OK, THAT'S ENOUGH! BAD FRUIT!"😖👎
So it stays at #1 being bad, and, yes, my premonition was right, this fruit is one to avoid....
19: Cherimoya
18: Dragonfruit
17: Papaya
16: Passion fruit
15: Sapote (Mamey)
14: Rambutan
13: Tamarind (ripe)
12: Mangosteen
11: Durian
10: Korean melon
9: Lychee
8: Pummelo / Pomelo
7: Goldenberry (close to "MEH", but OK)
6: Kiwano melon (bit good)
5: Prickly pear / Cactus fruit (bland)
4: Tamarillo (Red)
3: Guava-Mexican white
2: Pepino melon
Two thumbs down for this fruit, and I would give it a D- : 3.8/6 (61%)!!
For Alfred trying this fruit raw, he would cough at this after taking a bite of it, and even if it were cooked, he would stick out his tongue- not of his natural way nor say that something is delicious, but of sheer disgust. And if it is that he would be offered this fruit again, he would push it away, and if you do insist to eat it no matter if cooked or raw, he would push YOU away-or go as far as throwing the fruit in your face if he has it in his hands!! DON'T GIVE HIM THIS FRUIT! HE HATES IT WITH A PASSION!!
