I'm not quite sure if i'll use journals much, but i love music and find myself wanting to talk about it a lot, or just share my love of it. So i don't know how long i'll keep this up or if i'll do it every day, but i'll use my journals here to share songs of the day :) some thoughts about them, a link to them on youtube, a memory associated with them, whatever ^_^
todays song is:
Goodbye Stranger by Supertramp

i looove this song so much. its one of those songs thats always been with me since i was a kid. i was definitely raised on 70s and 80s music and its such a wonderful constant. the composition of this song is just so amazing and i love how there are new little elements like the whistles and guitar distortion introduced at such well paced times. as much as I love music from every era, i think musicians in the 70's had some sort of crazy wizard powers that caused them to create some of the best music of all time (it was the weed and acid i think). its a song that has such a wonderful feeling like the hopeful end of a movie. to be honest, i want to direct movies. i went to school for film set design and it only deepened my love for film and desire to create it. i could've gone to film school, but i wanted to build sets. now i want to do both.
music has always been a very important thing for me, helping to anchor my memories, and inspiring most of my art. (the other half of my art is inspired by my dreams, and together music and my dreams make up my drive to create) i have a story in mind this would be the perfect ending song to. maybe someday i'll get to make it into a short film, who knows!
emotion: looking out the window on an overnight train, the sun is rising, you're hopeful for the future, and you've been fundamentally changed by your journey.
