We have learned the sad news regarding a longtime friend of mine and fan of my content. Yesterday, January 4th, at around 12:20 PM, Bob Nelson, a.k.a.
AnthroCoon, had passed away.
Bob Nelson was one of the old school furries, attending Anthrocon every year since its beginning in Albany, New York in 1997. He was a fan of cartoons, many of which classic ones, which is why he hosted classic cartoon panels at fur cons he was able to attend.
I first met him at my first Anthrocon back in 2011. We became good friends, and I was fortunate enough to do roomshare at hotels with him at conventions we both went to. He had many stories to tell about things like his experiences at past conventions and other related events.
In addition to being a longtime member of the furry community, he was also a radio deejay at Salem State University for 33 years, beginning way back in 1981. His passion for the radio made him stick with being a deejay at the college he went to.
It's a very somber time for all of us who knew him. I am very glad I was able to share my interest of furry with him, see him at conventions and fur meets, attend his panels, take him to things he was happy to go to, and many other things that we appreciated together. It's going to feel very different without him moving forward. But I assure that he will always and forever have a place in our hearts.
Big thank you to Bob Nelson for the great memories. We will miss you.
