Long running D&D 3.5 game needs new players
10 months ago
Ok long story short, I've been a player and DM in this amazing 3.5 game for over a year now, we're all level 17-19, and we're approaching the game's climax. However two of the core players have dropped out for various reasons, one player is losing interest, and a replacement guy we all brought in is putting the game at risk. As the game me and another original founder helped create is at risk of dying.
Me and another dude are looking to save the game from dying and I finally offered to see if any FA people (especially those I talk to I know, but don't know if they play TTRPGs) are interested/know the system, if you know Pathfinder 1E then you already know enough of D&D 3.5. I am largely only interested in people who atleast know the basics as teaching the basics at high level isn't an ideal first time experience.
While the game is 3.5, I tend to like to port/homebrew stuff from other systems while DMing. This isn't everyone's cup of tea though, but I feel a need to mention it.
So for now I would like gauge interest and see how many others play these old school systems.

FA+

I am very pleased to have actually reached a level that not alot of players have. Reaching that fabled level 20 is a real achievement.
I'd be interested if I didn't already have extreme issues carving out time for even simple leisure activities. I wish you luck filling the spot!
Has me curious what kind of world you've created, too. Would love to see/hear about it.
It's not just my world, it's a rotating DM game, or well, it was.
One player got bored of the game, and the other who was DMing had a self-esteem mental shutdown and left after we avoided being one-shot his plot-god NPC (basically Saitama) and he had no idea where to take the story from there.
The plot is... hard to explain, but my side of it involves a highly-technological faction being sponsored by cosmic forces of balance and order is attempting to "ascend" humanity, purge all monsters (by repurposing them into negative-energy powered constructs), and perfect society... With no cost being too great. All while their leader resents gods, monsters, and is stealing the power of dragons to become a deity themselves (Via the Dragon Ascendant prestige class). I make completely custom maps out of various assets during my DMing sessions and love challenging dungeon crawls.
I've been using alot of pf1e stuff (especially technology guide), some 3rd party mech content, and even Starfinder stuff that I can convert over that thematically fits the theme. Not everyone likes me putting technology into their high-fantasy game thou.
But yeah, I love it. the 5e game I was in recently collapsed due to the dreaded scheduling issues, and I can safely say I have no love for 5th edition, it's very brand and stiff and *requires* homebrew to even function half the game. It's like a game that needs MODS to be playable.
Largest reason I preached PF1e for so long over 5e was because it just had the SHEER customization options to make whatever you can think of, maybe not at level 1, but in the long run.
Meanwhile me: trying to play an improvisional fighter in 5e and realizing 5e has jack all to help do anything outside of unarmed strikes.
Sucks I can't join you :/ already busy with a Battletech game, Only War, Pathfinder 1e, and Shadowrun 5e, and soon either GURPS or ACKS 2e...
We use Roll20
Obviously not every game is for everyone and I understand that, simply having prior experience is going to make it much easier though.
