I do like the idea that both are really friendly but porcupines are coffee drinkers XD

I feel like the hedgehog. The porcupine is more prickly.

Porcupines have a rounder more friendly face to me, hedgehogs are sharper and less sociable.

That was my first impression, too

I'm going with porcupines as well for the same reason as  BrunCheval : Porcupines simply have rounder, friendlier faces.

They do! I sort of like the juxtaposition with the quills.

Like  BrunCheval and  Indagare mentioned, their faces and especially their snouts were the deciding factor. Porcupines have that sort of "I brought you over some tea, I hope you like it. Would you like some carrot cake?" vibe towards their faces, whereas hedgehogs definitely have a "I will absolutely bite you if you dare touch my Monster Energy" sort of vibe. Both animals are adorable, but their snouts just give off something that resonates those sorts of vibes to me.
