Hey!
I wanna share my sona creation path and bit more about me/he
Teo "Silverpaws" (th-eh-oh)
Winged kobold (urd)
He/him, 20+ year old
98 cm/3`2”, 19 kg/41 lb
Demisexual
I started by selecting a SPECIES
I am definitely a bit more into scaly species, then others. I adore dragons, since childhood. It kinda my lost, that I haven draw any dragons in my present style (I did a lot before on paper). I am into RPG, especially fantasy. Also I'm running DnD sessions as a game master. And there always had a soft spot for tiny creatures and small races. So, with all these — kobolds are just perfectly combined — they are smol and “dragon shaped”.
I was sure about the wings. Usually, kobolds don't have them, so the wings feel less "koboldish". However, there are kobolds with wings, but rare (Urds in Forgotten Realms).
And I just like this type of wings a lot, even though it is "double work" to draw them.
Next, my kobold PERSONALIZATION
So I choose kobold as my sona species. Basically, I just combine “me” things + some that I like + kobold lore stuff or koboldish personality. And fun, but they matches
Kobolds worshiping dragons — Ye, I like dragons
Kobolds smol — well, I am not that small, not height though
Kobolds want to be a dragon, some of them think they already are. But they don't. Or they are? — I just found symbolism in it: high goals, dreams, self building, delusion, harsh reality. Yep, just yep
Kobolds are creatures with eyes that are sensitive to sunlight, so they live in underground tunnels — Well, I love night and being inside
Kobolds do traps and good crafters — >:>
Kobolds a bit cowardly and nervous — Ye, they are not perfect, not very strong or an absolute genius, but I am too
COLORS AND FEATURES
Thinking about colors, I suddenly remember my first dragon crush Mutare Drake from the menu screen of Heroes III. Just a single drawing, but it fascinated me in childhood. In the game, Mutare is a human who turns into a dragon. She has black scales with orange wings, a crest, and red stripes.
Cool, but just copying the whole color scheme wasn't my way. So, to find inspiration, I started looking for some animal references with similar colors and found fire-bellied newt (salamander family). Some newts and salamanders live in caves, and they are nocturnal. In this I also found some connections with kobolds, who are also nocturnal and live underground.
Сrest was inspired from the northern crested newt. Also, It looks like a haircut, a bit tricky to draw though (it really took time to work out the shape).
Bat ears — bats are cave animals and again, nocturnal connection. So, my kobold has "bat-shaped" ears, however, no echolocation.
Double horns — the horns, as well as the color, are separated into two colors and textures.
Teo has two pairs of fangs, one larger and the other smaller, which are part of skull
