The State Of Government
I was with friends at the Monterey Aquarium over the weekend on Saturday on a nice little weekend excursion. Originally the plan was to do the aquarium and then do a fursuiting walk afterwards, but the NorCal furs in charge of it then changed plans to be an entirely different weekend and so the whole fursuiting thing fell apart yet we were up at the seaside anyway.
Being that I have my phone in my pocket I check emails a lot and there was a message from the union regarding something that I hadn't heard anything about, and really unsettles me a bit concerning my job.
That it seems our lord and savior Trump just randomly decided to axe a fuckton of people's jobs in the federal government if they were still on their probationary period of time. This doesn't sit well with me, because I was once one of those people thirteen years ago just getting myself in the door and being utterly terrified of being on a one year probationary period where I could've lost my job for any reason at all if someone didn't like me or what I did. Fortunately that was a long time ago, and I'm still here, but now I just feel like this prick is looking for any reason at all to take my job. I feel still relatively safe considering my job title, location, and the fact that I've been in for thirteen years should stand for something to make it more difficult for me to be removed.
But make no mistake, if I lost my federal job, staying in California is unthinkable and I honestly wouldn't know what I'd do afterwards to get something like this back or keep things in life on the course that they currently are.
As a federal employee, oh, I have recognized and felt the inefficiency of decision making that government is capable of and it pisses me off to no end, but just randomly axing the incoming new prospective employees is the wrong move. WE NEED THOSE PEOPLE. Those incoming people are fresh minds needed to take a stand on the front lines from any long time veteran in the workforce when they step down, carrying knowledge forward that comes with workplaces in order to keep things going.
The government right now just has completely lost its entire fucking mind.

Maybe all the stupids just wanted someone who didn't make them feel dumb? Tired of actually smart people using lots of words they didn't understand and not doing all the simplistic, shortsighted solutions they came up with after an hour of drinking?
In any case, I'm glad your job is safe (for now) and that you got to see the Monterey aquarium, it's really great.
Me, I more admire the architecture and engineering behind such places, especially when you realize that the cylindrical fish tank you were near on the first floor still continues up into the second floor, and finally tops out at the third floor roof. Or witnessing an aquarium window that spans an entire room.
The expansive patio terraces out back of the place were a highlight to me. Perched on piers over the ocean in a horseshoe shape surrounding an artificial tide pool below, with smaller patios out on the second and third floors of the building permitting a variety of views of the waves crashing against the supports and walls beneath the building itself and inviting you to want to be on those areas and just observing for long periods of time.
Its worth the trip and cost to get in there.
