The thing with RP with AI is just that it gives you what you want, and to me, it feels empty, almost hollow, especially after a little bit. Think of the Twilight Zone episode (yes, I love old TZ with Rod Serling) where the guy gets everything he wants, and it starts to grow empty, and almost torturous.

While it can be fun for those brief, self-indulgent moments, I find the most fun in RP comes from the actual back and forth interaction with another person (something AI can't really replicate), as well as the discussion of plans over where to take the RP (a sort of shared goal to "guide" it towards over time), and the occasional twist. I can consider different ways the other person might take the RP in their next response, but sometimes, they'll take things in a way I don't predict, and it forces me to be creative in how my character would respond, especially with their character.

With AI, you just ask it for a punk hyena, and it just spits out a punk hyena exactly as you desire, and there's no variety to spice things up, as it's personality and interactions will basically be exactly as you want them to be, since you basically made the character through the AI. In a way, I see RPing with AI as you writing a story, where half of it is written by AI.

As for "real punk hyenas" (especially ones that do RP)? Sounds like a bit of a niche group, and can't quite help you there, sorry.

I agree with you 95% of the time this happened.
But I was impressed how the last version of ChatGPT (4o) managed to make multiples characters feels quite alive and created stuff I have not asked for.

I'm not a good writer, actually sometimes I have difficulties in that of expressing myself even in my native language, and well, I asked Grok from Twitter to say to me what fictional character they "think" I am and, firstly they ( or he?) understood that I wanted to role play, and then somehow I got involved in a kind of Rick and Morty adventure

How did it know I liked that show? I don't know, I haven't mentioned there, it is supposed Twitter knows I like Family guy, old seasons of the Simpsons and Final Space

My point is that IA is trained to behave in a way that fits you, so, it is not as weird as you may think, and it is the beginning, the more they get more of that interactions the better they will interact
