A Loveletter to Monster Hunter

A Loveletter to Monster Hunter.
With the highly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds just mere day away, i wanted to talk about the franchise, its makers and what place it has in my life.
Monster Hunter made its debut 2005 on the ps2, but i personally only noticed the franchise in its third generation.
i was but a young boy when i saw "Monster Hunter Tri" in the mixed games section of a flea market salesman.. the big Lagiacrus on the cover instantly caught my eye and me, who recently got a old Wii from my sister for my birthday decidet... yes, thats it!
i couldnt get into it. the controls, the wonky wiimote controls... the lack of tutorial and such... i dropped the game after mere hours of playing....
how naive i was..
Tri found a extention in the 3ds title "Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate" ... i decidet to give it another chance and it clicked.
hours, no, days were spend playing it. i found my passion in it. soon more titles dropped and each one of them have been purchased and gathered days of playtime.
4 ultimate
generations ultimate
world and its extention iceborne
rise and its extention sunbreak
Its rare nowadays to see how much a developer team cares for a franchise... how they listen to fans, and how they can adapt their games to the audience.... thank you, Capcom.
I had a shitty childhood. living on the edge of poverty, each luxury item was hard earned... bullying in school so hard i had to be in psychiatry for a year and then a special school afterwards.. a father that never loved me, told me in my face that i was nothing but a mistake and he never wanted me, and seemingly everyone beating on me.... but when that horn chimes... and the beast falls to my blade... i have this little moment of "i did this..."
during my life i have been starved from praise so much that the villagers ingame cheering for my return made me feel welcome. i needet this. the monster hunter games are my escape from reality, my escape into a better world...
i will be turning 31 this year... i found my small circle of friends... partners.. soulmates... i have my own home with my girlfriend of 13 years, a okay workplace and steady income... but there is nothing giving me the same warmtht, the same joy than to hear that jingle and head out for another hunt.
thank you, Monster hunter, to be my escape.
thank you, capcom, for listening to the fans.
and thank you all, for going this journey with me.

You were the one that really got me into the series... I had Rise and Sunbreak before, but it wasn't until you gifted me World that I really fell in love with the game. The jingle, the frustration, the sense of absolute accomplishment after a particularly awful hunt [IM LOOKING AT YOU PICKLE], just.. brings a smile on my face.
So here's to Monster Hunter. A franchise that unites us all in the face of a common goal, and brings friends close together..
Can't wait for Wilds~ my trigger finger is itchin to fire
