ANNOUNCEMENT
PLEASE read the journal below for details, but the gist of it is I'm going freelance and taking commissions now!
- Terms of Service: https://docs.google.com/document/d/.....it?usp=sharing
- Commission Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1.....uZA1A/viewform
- Trello: https://trello.com/b/Z9ZaWfPJ/ryuji.....ots-and-status
TL;DR
- Real life got VERY hectic, and I lost my job recently. Seeing about freelancing full-time.
- Got the basics set up and hopefully seems fair and appropriate for an amateur.
- Trying to get better with socials by being more active to connect and network.
- Streaming might also come into the picture, but it will take a bit of time to set up.
- Planning to broaden my horizons and perfect what I can already do.
ANNOUNCEMENT
So…a lot has happened! Unfortunately, not for the best…
Without going into too many personal details, I haven’t been around much due to real life things taking a heavy toll on me. Family life takes a lot of my personal time and money away with matters like dealing with errands for many of them, taking care of my sickly grandmother (chemotherapy but she is recovering), dealing with my baby cousins, and plenty more. This was on top of my bank job getting more and more hectic as well. Keyword being “was” as I, unfortunately, was let go on February 14th, 2025.
I’m trying to find something else, but it looks very bleak with how the job market is. This isn’t my first time being unemployed, but my luck tends to be pretty bad finding something else. I expect at least a year of nothing. Going back to college (I already have a degree and a number of certifications) or trade school is costly and risky, but my family insists as I look for something else. I did get my last paycheck and do have some money saved, but the check money will be all gone by the end of March. Then, I will have to use what little I have saved up.
Why now I’m biting the bullet to at least give freelancing a proper shot and not just a side-thing. At the very least hopefully help me stay afloat while I try to find another job for stable income. However, I also want to see if freelancing can actually become my main source of income…if the stars align.
FREELANCING
COMMISSIONS
Currently, I'm offering writing and drawing commissions, but I plan to add more as I learn other skills (see below under GROWTH) until I’m confident in them. Prices are more on the low side with being an amateur and planning to stay open 24/7. Only closing commissions if I get too many in queue than I can handle to ensure I can give others that have commissioned me what they want in a timely manner. However, it is always subject to change.
ORGANIZATION
“First Come, First Served” at the moment aside from limited rush slots or possible changes in the future. I will try to keep things tidy with a Trello for others to view the queue and such. Communication will be typically open 24/7 for discussing commissions or even if you just want to chat and say “Hi!” You can also poke me for updates, changes, suggestions, etc. if need be. Please be understanding if I seem unavailable or miss an update as I do have a hectic personal life that can pull me away from my computer randomly at any time to take care of something. Often being family. I will inform you why I have to dismiss myself or haven’t responded to your message yet as I see it as common courtesy.
MISCELLANEOUS
Seeing additional ways of support like Patreon, Ko-fi, Throne, itch.io, etc. Mostly as a tip jar for now, but I plan to see about incentives like reserved slots, exclusive content, etc. Also maybe a proper shop as well. These will take some time to set up as I want to think of other ways to show appreciation to those willing to do this and even go over and beyond.
SOCIALS
ACTIVITY
As most have already known/seen, I’ve been pretty absent with my spotty presence around. Becoming a hermit once again to only keeping to DMs for the most part. Not helping with having pretty bad encounters and experiences from the past and recently that have made me reluctant to get closer to people. I’m going to try [again] to be more active and open beyond DMs. That includes posting more often of my own art as well as commissions and gifts I’ve gotten from many amazing people. Just bare with me as I’m VERY socially anxious.
COMMUNITY
In order of preference, I will be active on Discord, Telegram, Bluesky, FurAffinity, and Reddit. Sometimes on Twitch and Youtube viewing/commenting others, but I also plan to do the same as well as stream on Picarto (see below under STREAM - Platform). I “have” a Twitter, but I will no longer post on it aside from this announcement, repost, and sparse communication. Game-wise, I’m active on Guild Wars 2, Warframe, GYEE, VRChat, and Second Life. May see about making a community Discord server and a Telegram group for mutuals. For more OC-centric socials, there’s also my F-List and soon a Toyhou.se, Tellonym, and other stuff. Also seeing about doing events like TTRPG nights on Roll20/Talespire in the far future.
BOUNDARIES
This is more of a heads-up to those wanting to RP with me. While I’m generally open to doing so, please be respectful if I’m busy or not in the mood. I would also like to get to know you first before just immediately jumping in. This goes especially if you’re trying to RP somewhere beyond text on Discord/Telegram (ex. VRChat, Second Life, Guild Wars 2, etc.).
STREAMS
PLATFORM
As niche as it is, I’m going to try Picarto for streaming. I’m aware Youtube and Twitch are usually the default and a wider audience, but Picarto feels “cozier” and allows NSFW. Might also see private streams as well. This isn’t guaranteed to happen mind you, but it never hurts to try. I also need to see about making a proper setup as well like an avatar (be it png or 3D model with tracking), music, alerts, etc.
SCHEDULE
I’m still unsure about the times and day, but I’m considering more around the evening from 6 PM - 10 PM CST on weekdays. It mostly depends on my schedule off stream and how things may develop. I can also see about just having days for crazy long streams or generally just have streams whenever I think I can. I’m open to hear about suggestions about times that are better for most and how to handle this.
CONTENT
Art streams are a given, but I’m seeing about other things as well. I have plenty of offline games in mind, but it gets tricky for online games. I’ve considered games like Guild Wars 2, Warframe, VRChat, etc. Maybe even doing the classic “Smash or Pass” and similar. I will see about making votes as well to things I’m up for, but not sure if I want to do it immediately. Same for challenges to keep it going if I ever want to go back to something with a twist or just go for all the way like 100% a game.
GROWTH
PRIORITY
I do want to keep at it with my current best skills being writing and drawing [and programming]. However, the next new skills I want to focus on are 3D work (Blender) and media editing. Possibly LSL as well for Second Life. Appreciate any help like resources or tutoring. This will definitely take some time to be considered commission worthy as mentioned previously in the Freelancing section above.
UNITY AND/OR UNREAL?
A little bit up in the air, but I’m trying to decide between one of these game engines to focus on or even both if need be. I’m currently leaning on [only] Unity since I use VRC and Talespire, and it seems lighter between the two. I’m aware of Unity’s decisions in the past, but I’m trying to stick with it to not overwhelm myself by learning two game engines along with other things currently. However, I know how accessible Unreal is now. Especially with Blueprints being flexible and easy to manage for those with minimal experience with the engine.
FAR FUTURE…
As for other skills I’m considering, there’s also music, singing, voice acting, etc. Going the whole nine yards to be essentially a one man game studio, but that’s WAAAAAAAAAAAAY later once I’m more settled and things go well.
I'm active on other platforms! You can also check my ToS, Commission Form, and Work Queue!
