This is an existential threat to FA and everything we're doing on this site. I can't do much from my own state of Michigan except signal boost. This must be stopped.
This bill is worded in plain language to encompass ANY artistic or written work containing sexual content. Yes, it WOULD make it possible to sit down and write or draw something that would land you in jail for having done so.
This is an attack on free speech.
It criminalizes mere POSSESSION of pornography, whether you post it online or not, whether you show it to other people or not, you're not allowed to even HAVE it.
I cannot stress enough how diabolical this bill is. By piggybacking off of a child pornography law, it makes creating artistic nudity or erotic fanfic subject to the SAME PUNISHMENT as child abuse. Same sex offenders registry.
There's nothing godly about it. It's the work of the devil.

This proposal is morally bankrupt, now that we've sorted that out, it's time to imagine them trying to actually *enforce* this when passed in its extremities. It means drawn pornography would be automatically illegal, and it could become illegal to own and possess it so.....wait...hold the fuck on. How do people expect to you know....barge in and grab your sketches? You're probably safe in your own home, but obviously this will target the online demographic the most in surveillance state play out, right? Worry not, faithful twin cities perverts in midwest silicon valley are rushing for methods to obscure your online pornography experience as I type this.
Iowa, you have clearly lost your mind too since I visited des moine during the madness of 2020 and was forced by family to go on the campaign trail for Amy Klobuchar that year. Something something omg she's a great senator for MN so this is a great idea, something something, you have no idea how much I was cartoonishly looking wistfully at all the Sander supporter volunteers across the in the opposite rows of the stadium. I felt like (on top of just being trans) I was wearing another person's skin because I had volunteered for his campaign initially in 2016. We were, to Ms. Klobuchar's credit, extremely well taken care of on the trip to the DNC and back. We had free fresh and healthy food provided and the bus had outlets, so that was great.
I hope people continue to oppose this shit, it truly is not right and trying to tag it in with child exploitation so people are forced to side with it, is cruel. Thankfully, it may be struck down if it is too generous in its sweeping implications of what is criminalized and consensual behavior in your own home, re-drafted, and then proposed with less extreme wording that could apply broad sweeping legal restrictions on arts & entertainment that has nothing to do with child exploitation content. This is what we were warning straight people about, that they wanted to ban ALL porn if they get their way but they really thought they were the ones pulling the lever in the trolley problem 🤔
