The USA is a vile nation.

In Australia, theres now a spreading boycot on American goods and products. We have emergency visas for LBBTQ people.

I do not know how this happened. I don't know how it was even close.

I sincerely hope I do not need the visa.

Meanwhile in Auz - the skies are clear, and we are all working rd to keep U.S. hater politics from spilling onto our shores.

We're holding the line.

Hugs, to continue the metaphor our sky may be cloudy but many of us work against the hatred and the need some seem to have to hurt others. I am old enough to remember the summer of hate, and what that led to. I remember life magazine's coverage of the last open lynching as contemporary news. I remember the events on the Edmund Pettus [sp] bridge in Alabama. I also remember the outrage that followed, and the change. For now I am safe. I take some comfort in my memories of a time my country stepped back from the brink, and hope we can do it again.

While I very much want to visit Auz I want to do it as a tourist not a refugee.
