Didn't I mention that I have a bad habit of talking about politics? As a matter of fact, I tend to criticize the United States, under one of the most hated men in the world right now, and my home country Canada, and its curent trend of blind patriotism. I also tend to talk about both countries and their complicated history in regards to race relations and how they mistreated their indigenous people and things like that. Canada is not the magical fairy tale land of diversity, tolerance, inclusion, acceptance, and "free health care" that a lot of people think it is.
I used to be the same, but it's all about moderation. Stay informed, but don't get so sucked into it that you get consumed by the negativity of everything being said.
Something to remember is that negative stuff gets clicks, so you'll never or rarely hear anything positive.
As for blind patriotism, it's been a plague since the beginning of nation states and oh boy do politicians know how to whip it up.
