Hey there fuzzies!
We wanted to pop in and say we had a lot of fun with our April Fools this year and ALSO…we heard you loud and clear.
Comic Neue (similar to Comic Sans) is now available for all users to select in their Account Personalization section of the Account Settings page found here! Settings Link
We received quite a lot of feedback from people who struggle with dyslexia and those who just preferred the font in general. This was a quick add-on that we were able to do for you! We have no plans to add any other additional fonts at this time.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND
Overrides are generally not supported, maintained, or tested beyond their initial implementation. They come with no guarantee that they will work in all cases, now or into the future.
We need to get back to working on our other to-do items, enjoy and be excellent to each other!

Full Guide for this and many other tricks!
As a writer, I've had to put a lot of effort into working my way around FurAffinity and its odd little limitations. I experimented a lot with my thumbnails and with finding ways to put leading spaces and other eye-catching tricks. "Custom" fonts is only one of the random things I've taken advantage of across the years.

(Mentioned in the guide linked above but always worth highlighting IMO!)
have a nice day ^^
The actual comic sans font looks dreadful.
If it had been named something like "Quirky Curves" it probably wouldn't have gotten hated.
This isn't to say some people don't have valid criticisms of comic sans, more so that the general public will not go any deeper than "because it's funny"
Now we just need that incredible banner art to come back. :3c
Thanks for all of the work on the site as of late, it's definitely appreciated and made the experience here much nicer. ^w^
That’s so sweet that you guys decided to add this font into the account settings!
Also yeah that april fools fa cover was indeed something X3
Ummmm, I've been on the site every day and never saw any change in the font.
What are you talking about?
I don't use the Beta site as it never worked right and was a cluttered mess.
It was too buggy and broken, so I gave up on it.
Most of the time, I forget we even have the Beta version.
Never heard or saw any Retro version of it, though.
The Classic version worked fine, maybe not the most modern looking site, but it at least worked.
A lot of the issues is the clutter. Everything is crammed together. Journals, user pages, submissions, everything.
It is hard on the eyes and just ends up giving me a headache staring at it for too long.
It just makes everything harder to use.
The Journal page, for example. A third of the comments are cut off by the list of other journals. If I want to see a list of other journals, I'll go look at the list on a separate page. It makes the comment section feel squashed onto one side.
the journal page displays just fine for me; the comments display directly below it and aren't cut off at all.
what device are you viewing furaffinity on?
I use Firefox, though I have used Edge as well.
When you open a journal, the whole right side would be a list of other journals, that list and empty space would go all the way down to the bottom of the page.
So, the comments would be crammed off to the side as a result.
you're perfectly valid in your feelings for not liking it. there may be a firefox extension that can help get rid of that for you if some day classic does not work, or perhaps the devs will make it toggleable
either way, thank you for elaborating, I understand what you mean now
Another case of "It's not a bug, it's a feature"
The sidebar is the source of a lot of the clutter.
If I could toggle it off, it would make the Beta site almost usable.
On a side note, I'll refer to the Modern site as the Beta site until I see the Beta site as an improvement over Classic.
As it was a feature of the site, a screenshot really wouldn't help, as the site isn't broken.
As for calling it Beta, I was just explaining why I kept calling it that, since I had several people correct me.
Was just giving my reasoning behind it, not trying to insult anyone.
As for helping me, I'm not sure what can be done, as the issue isn't a bug.
I'll give any info you want about it, I just don't know what you want.
I'm sure I'll have to use the Beta site eventually. I'm sure FA won't keep Classic forever.
I just hope the Beta site will have fixed a lot of the issues I'm having.
I know people like the Beta site, and I don't fault them for that. It just isn't for me, atm.
Hopefully, the staff will make the site customizable for people to make the site fit their needs.
Too often my issues are brushed aside as "Well, the site isn't broken, so the issue is more of a YOU problem"
Where do I send feedback for this? Just open a ticket?
As the issue isn't a Bug, as far as the Staff sees it, I wasn't sure what to say or where to go.
You are more than welcome to send feedback as well, hopefully if more people say something, things might change.
i'm definitely going to send in my feedback when i have time, i plan on editing together a mock-up of what i wish the buttons looked like
I changed my Display name. I'm leaving it on the Beta site until I am allowed to change my display name again. If I still can't get used to Beta by then, I'll go back to classic. I'll at least give Beta a fair chance.
granted its not the FA emotes but can still do it lol
I'm the same, I use classic because it's easy to read and optimized to just look at the art itself.
You do have a point there. On the Beta site, the art does take a bit of a, maybe not a back seat, but a passenger seat.
The art doesn't feel like the main focus.
I don't consider Beta a bad site, it just doesn't fit my needs.
*hey this is pretty neat. glad to see the staff have been making more improvements as of late. i gotta say, though, my bro feels pretty left out. maybe the site's font can be papyrus for next year's april fools?
Hectic world, already filled to the brim with lies and deceit, but sometimes, there's the rare case when a practical joke just becomes... well, practical.
That font was pretty fun
I do wonder will we get other fonts down the road.
The one con I've found about that specific kind of font FA used was that, as being non-native English user, it has problems with non-ASCII characters. It even in some cases rendered them being even less readable than the "normal" FA font :(.
The funny thing is that custom CSS has been a thing for a long while... this has always been possible x3
It took me 15 minutes to figure it out, and the last time I touched CSS actively was in college some 15 years ago. I wanted to know how to do it, so I accessed the knowledge!

PLEASE NOTE:If you're on Classic; this will most likely not work/be available as Classic is not updated anymore.
is it in any other link?

I loved your UI changes for April fools. 10/10 joke. Not-Comic-Sans is a nice easy to read font. I switched it. Thank you momma!
I really need you to take a step back and take a deep breath. The constant negativity on just about every journal we've made recently has got to stop. This particular update does not affect you in any way for you to be so upset with it. You have to opt IN to the font change IF you want it. No one is making you. But look around at all the other comments where people are so happy that it was added in for them. Is it necessary for you to come in and hate on it just cuz? The font itself has NOTHING to do with Undertale. It isn't even Comic SANS...Its Comic NEUE. We did a silly and harmless April Fools for 24 hours with a font change. People genuinely liked it and it bettered their experience on the site so we added it as an option for them. I am sorry you didn't like it. There is no need to be so angry here though.
In each journal we remind people to be excellent to each other. This is not very excellent behavior and I hope you can cool off a little. We want feedback, and we don't expect people to like everything we do. But when it isn't constructive and is just hate there is little to work with there. The site is not going to be staying how it is just because you don't like it. We will be continuing to grow and update and change as most sites do over time. If you can't vibe with it then I don't know what to tell you. But the hate and mean comments really need to stop or you won't get to comment on these journals anymore. Be excellent to each other!
Firstly, can the site skin setting be put where we don't need a password to change it to test things and switch back? It would make testing and comparing simpler.
Mainly that, as a mobile-only user who has no PC, things get cut off the screen, even when I set the browsers to force desktop view. Specifically the mini gallery under submissions in Classic is gone in Modern, even though I have it selected. The sidebar doesn't exist like I have seen on actual PCs. It's simply not there, and the screen cannot be "pinch zoomed out" to reveal it. (Honestly it works better under the submission anyway, keeping eyes on art. The sidebar would shift the image to the side and off-center. I think that may possibly be part of the issue.)
Simultaneously the same issue exists for checking a user's journals. The list and pagination are not there, cannot be scrolled to, and cannot be pinch zoomed out to see if they're in the corner like on Classic. You just have a continuous scroll through full length journals.
A user in the FA Discord had a screenshot of the mini gallery issue, but I don't know if the link can be posted here.
I can also tell that you used Javascript to do the submission blurring for the tag blacklist. It creates a small delay and automatically blurs a permitted image momentarily when opening a new image, occasionally. If Javascript is disabled every image is blurred.
Why disable Javascript? Back in the days before unlimited data plans, mobile users disabled it to save precious data and overage fees. Later when more bad actors were hiding malicious things in Javascript (especially non-Google ads), it was advised to disable it wherever possible.
Please don't put too much Javascript into FA. Dragoneer once said somewhere (before the Beta skin existed) that FA tested the mobile compatability back to Windows 1 phones. Granted, that was on Classic, but Classic uses less resources anyway. Until the last forced logout, I could still use a Samsung Galaxy S4 for FA off WiFi. (It couldn't do picture Captcha, thus it's been retired after 12 years of use.)
The only Classic features I can find that don't work without Javascript are journal and submission deletion. (And no logout warning to guard against misclicks.)
Conversely, even with a new phone, DA is partially unusable (particularly severe note lag and inability to alter profiles) due to the layers of Javascript and the new UI.
I understand progress is necessary, but please be careful how much Javascript is used or added, lest users with lower end mobile devices (or just mobile devices in general) be unable to use the site. Javascript definitely uses more oomph on a mobile device.
Sorry for too much thinking and text-walling. ^^'
The main reason to use classic is that it's simple (plenty space, no bright colours aside from the art itself), easy to read (no dramatic font sizes) and mostly doesn't change. The classic layout doesn't need changes and I don't think anyone minds if new features aren't available on it. But also I don't think the new layout could satisfy the same needs with the style it's aiming for, it's made for a different preference entirely.
While I firmly prefer the default FA font myself, this update was like finding an onion ring at the bottom of the bag of fries. Unexpected but sweet!
Either way. Nice to see the site includes it for others.
Thanks for listening to the audience, it's incredibly valuable!😭💗
deviantart doesnt listen to its userbase like that unfortunately
I think it would be nice to introduce a couple more fonts, either for variety or for those who might have a hard time viewing the regular one and this one.
I may get April Fooled again but hey, you did a great work, so thanks!
Gosh I really love the direction the site is taking in general, like the community and the people running the show, it feels like there's more connection, this is exactly what makes me want to support it further with FA+ 💙
Thank you so much for including this as a toggle~!!
While I do have my issues with this platform, I feel like this site is becoming better & better lately. I'm glad you listen to the community & do cool stuff like allowing others to use the font they prefer. You're doing a great job !
I know you are not looking for suggestions, but hear me out:
Please consider adding support for the Curriour font.
This would allow for two things:
1. It would also provide additional options for individuals with dyslexia.
2. It would open up Furaffnity to support proper film script format.
There has been a rise in animated content in the furry world lately, but there are few options available for scripts for this content. This would be a boon for the furry community as a whole.
Imagine if there were users who could not animate but could write scripts for animators to animate to. Higher-quality animations = more traffic to view said scripts and more gateways into the furry community. Along with a way to "strut our stuff," so to speak. <3
In the community, we already have great voice actors, animators, storyboard artists, etc... The community as a whole is poised to create an impressive open-source-style animation studio, and this minor change would be a step in that direction.
Now everything looks prettier, thank you very much <3

Today is way better for me so I hope the same for you.
Edit: Ok seems like I didn't switch over to modern like I thought, I can't really use that format that well as everything is switched around which just confuses me. I switched it to modern only to switch it back because I had no idea how to work it.
I love this, I hope you all are doing well, and are having a great day!
