Should I retire Cobar/Kovar?

I'm looking at all I've done with my Kovar/Cobar models, and wondering if I should retire them to make a more distinct version, since these were originally made with JoeAdok's design in mind, and I feel like I've corrupted and tainted it by my use of them. I have talked with the artist years ago about it, and he said that it was alright, since he knew what he was getting into by allowing me the use of the design, but the more I look into it, the more I feel very guilty about it. Sadly, I can't contact him to ask his opinion, because I can only find him on Deviantart, and I had to deactivate my own due to getting a ton of spammers trying to scam me with offers to pay me to let them make fan art of my work (if you EVER get these kinds of emails, DO NOT ENGAGE, just report the user and block them, and move on). What do you guys think? Should I retire the models and designs, for the artist's sake, even if he's said he's okay with it, or no?

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43130764/ The models on the left are the Wolvalix models I had made for me; the female one is the original Wolvalix one, the male one is a headhack I made, though there's a new one available that salvages my first attempt to make my own Cobar model.
As you can see, they're fairly similar, if not very much exact, to each other. As I said, I had talked to him before, first about using the design for my own projects (of which he said it was fine), and then to apologize for misusing them like I did (which he said was expected, and not the reason he hasn't been drawing him, lately). I dunno how I can rework the designs, honestly, as I'm just a rank amateur of a modeler.
Besides, it's up to you if you want keep them or not and start a new one your own version of Cobar and other models. I'm not the one to choose but again you decide if it's good for you.

But on the subject of Cobar, the KM version I'm not too worried about, more than the Wolvalix edits I made. It's those ones - which I've personally kept as exclusive to myself - that I'm worried about, because of the fetishes I render them doing.
