Are These Artworks "Mature?" DeviantArt Sure Thinks So
5 months ago
I recently uploaded some picture of bunny ladies in victorian dresses:

I got DMs from DA moderators that these needed to be labeled "mature content" and not doing so was a Content Violation. Mind you there is NO NUDITY, NO IMPLIED NUDITY, and NOTHING IN THE PICTURE THAT VIOLATES DA'S RULES. Yet when I contacted moderators about this, I got this reply:
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out. It appears that the context of the deviation, including the tags, indicating that the intent of the image was to serve an audience looking for content depicting sexual themes and for that reason it requires a mature tag. We hope this information has been useful.
Never mind how tame the actual artwork is, or that the sauciest tag included was 'sexy,' or that I put up a very similar picture just a few days before that had the exact same tags, but was NOT required to be tagged as "Mature":

I'll abide by the ruling, but I am just surprised at how arbitrary it was. Especially since any quick look through new artwork on the site at any hour of the day shows a plethora of characters showing off all sorts of lewd body parts and nudity that does apparently need to get tagged, but women wearing full-length gowns do?

Some of us just get really hot and bothered at the thought of catching the slightest hint of a shapely ankle:

(Yes, I did dig up an eight year old journal)
Sir you are a Cad! A Bounder! Mayhap even a... a Rapscallion!
I would even go so far as to follow up the curve of her Calf! To set eye upon the taught cloth that adorns her very form! For were it not for such as her, I might have done well in life, but the very thought that beneath the many and varied layers of Clothes therein sat a WOMAN, in all her splendor has driven me beyond any form of decency!
Anyway, seen the paper? Looking for the Want-Ads.
