Fun with Google's TextFX AI engine

You may be familiar with the idiom "A shot in the dark." My life on the whole feels this way right now because of recent events, namely, the loss of a job that was my primary source for income. Anyhow, I plugged this well known phrase into Google's TextFX AI text generator and got back the following similes:
"I felt like a lone ship sailing into uncharted waters, with only a flickering compass to guide me."
"The future was a blank canvas, waiting for the bold strokes of chance."
"It was a gamble, a leap of faith, like a tightrope walker crossing a chasm with no net."
"The silence afterwards was deafening, like the hush that falls after a storm."
"I felt as fragile as a soap bubble, knowing it could burst at any moment."
"The odds were stacked against me, like a house of cards precariously balanced on a gust of wind."
"It was like trying to paint a portrait in the fog, hoping the brushstrokes would coalesce."
"My heart thumped like a hummingbird's wings against a window pane."
"I felt as blind as a bat in a moonless night, yet somehow compelled to swing."
"The answer was out there, somewhere, like a lost key in a field of wildflowers."
"It felt like throwing a pebble into a bottomless well, hoping for an echo."
