Listening to top 40 pop charts, one year at a time...

To give myself something new to listen to while out on walks, I've started listening to the UK "Top 40" pop charts by year, starting with 2000 and moving forward. I just finished listening to 2000s top 40 today and... wow, I went into it thinking "I'm gonna know barely any of these, I just wasn't listening to much music at that point" only to be like "Oh, THAT song!! Oh wait, THAT SONG! I know that!!"
High points that still hold up today: Stan by Eminem, Reach by S Club 7, Freestyler by Bomfunk MCs.
Songs I barely remembered that were good: Can't Fight the Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes, It Feels so Good by Sonique, Pure Shores by All Saints.
Memed songs that apparently were legit chart hits this year: Who Let the Dogs out by the Baha Men, Sandstorm by Darude.
Songs that (with no offense meant to anyone who likes them) made me want to pull my ears off and stand on them just to make it stop: American Pie by Madonna (why did it sound like it had been produced by someone using a $50 Casio keyboard???), The Bad Touch by the Bloodhound Gang.
Next up, 2001, and omg I already know I'm gonna remember a TONNE of songs from this year. Teenage Dirtbag? Clint Eastwood? Heaven is a Halfpipe??? Helllllllllll yeah hahaha.

Check it out.
They're most well known for "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", but my favourite song of theirs is a more recent one called "Open Fire". :)
You probably haven't heard this "definition of 2000's bubble gum pop" song; "Get Down" by B4-4—how the hell did no one notice the message in these lyrics??
