I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless paws of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:

just finished redecorating my new room, last person who lived here put them up, and they were an absolute nightmare to get down. had to pull 12-16 hour days taking them off with a paint scraper, scrubbing the walls with white spirit & a scourer, then wiping with hot water & vinegar to get the leftover bits. horrid. if you ever see someone about to put them up, inform them of the consequences of their actions; if they persist, cut them down where they stand.
