You have to keep a little crazy hidden away in your back pocket just to maintain your sanity.

So then, as a form of relaxation, I keep a bit of a garden in the backyard. Mostly I get tomatoes, but this year I'm shooting for much more.
The funny thing - God seems to have joined in. With this being a very dry season, my backyard is a dust bowl. Adding to this, the raccoons dig for worms, and for a while there were no end to holes all over. We found the solution by buying one of those air driven dancing guys. We've been leaving him dance all night - and no more holes.
As to God's garden, since I'm trying to grow my backyard grass back, I've not cut anything. Lo and behold, I have no end to wild cabbage, and dill plants. I have no idea where they came from. The leaves of the cabbage plants are quite tasty.
It reminds me of a time when I was young, and we knew a family from Lebanon. There was a large picnic one weekend, and she had all the kids go out and pick wild grape leaves. She then made us stuffed wild grape leaves, and were they ever good.
Still waiting for the uploads to begin (like everyone else).
Till then,
*hugs to all...

A number of years back, wuff made some delicious dandelion jelly. Its a lot of labor to get every bit of the green off of the yellow blooms. The green parts make things too bitter. And it takes a large amount of flowers to steep for the juice.
Vrghr's paws were stained dandelion yellow for a couple days after that, hehe! But the jelly was worth it!
Delicious, mild flavor similar to honey notes. Great on the morning toast!
I remember my grandmother fighting with the dandelions. She had a tool that was a stick bearing a two pronged fork looking thing on the end, and she would pull them out one by one.
She used to grow rhubarb and her pies were so very good.

I also saw a meme that I loved. The top picture was a rose, and the rose was saying, 'Oh my, the PH of my soil is not right. I shall have to die now.'
The picture under it was a dandelion actually growing on the sidewalk, and it's yelling, 'CONCRETE... YES!'

They're tough little suckers alright. Once they get that taproot down, they're REALLY hard to kill.
They were also originally brought here purposefully from the Europe as a food and medicine. In their name, taxacum officinale, the officinale refers to its medicinal properties.
I'll suggest that you may wish to reconsider that.

That reminds me of the idea that mushrooms could have come from another world and traveled here as spores.

Vrghr had all the grass pulled up in his front yard and put down different colored rocks and gravel to reduce maintenance and watering costs (our utility costs have gotten nuts!). Looked great the first year, but all sorts of little plants have decided that rocks and gravel makes a great growing medium! So wuff is out with vinegar spray, etc., to dissuade them.
However, one plant showed up and Vrghr let it grow - - wild sunflowers! Those babies LOVE the rocks! And the make a robust, colorful stand that lasts well into late Fall. So, perhaps the "gravel works" aren't pristine any more, but gee, those wild posies sure are pretty!

The little wild dill plants could really come in handy :D
I tend to do a little each day and it really does calm me down... that and I carry some cookies in my pocket in case of furry visitors (raccoons)

:) I'm happy for the calm that gardening brings you. How kind to bring a snack for your visitors too! I think the only visitors in my garden this year are some ants, bees, lizards, and the rare bird or two.
that was so very good.

I like the memory, it sounds nice!
The world is trying to flood my garden this May, while last May was a micro-drought!
It’s been a drought here too. We just now have begun getting some rain.

My grass is looking pretty good and I finally have some sun flowers coming up...
