It is still fresh that this news is up, and the passing of Pope Francis I is still in our minds, but I would feel that there is a good sense of pride that those who are from America can get some sort of chance to become an influential figure for the Roman Catholic Church and for all of Christianity. The man is from Chicago and is from Robert Francis Prevost, but is also having to be Peruvian in having to be work in a poor village and was a friar in an Augustinian order; he is 69 years old. Unexpected? DEFINITELY, but it is understandable that if the Church should be inclusive for all, it should be able to see that ANYONE has potential.
OK, for those that are thinking, why would there be a cardinal from a place where there's a president with near facist ideologies, is forgetful, having difficulty speaking and finding words, and would violate the Constitution? The short stick answer is, even though he could have some American traditions brought to the Papacy, the Church should be able to be independent of any law of any country and have beliefs that are universally accepted, like what countries will have to do when they are with the United Nations. Therefore, though he would have the influence of the 47th President since he's from Chicago, anyone who registered to be in high rankings in a church or ANY major religion (even in Islam and Judaism), should maintain neutrality. In any case, heed the 2024 election and know that the state of Illinois had been blue.
It is clear that the American cardinals were stunned themselves, and I was surprised-it would have been as a favorite, a cardinal from Phillipines, but here we are, unless like Benedict XVI he decides to retire, he will spend his life spreading the word-the 133 cardinals may have seen now Leo XIV some magic in him, and even though he will not be completely like Pope Francis being humble, it's safe to say that one should not completely be JUST LIKE the predecessor, but partially-they should be themselves altogether. At least he has been in higher education in an American university ( https://www.villanova.edu <<This university is also of Catholic origins.), and he has been traveling to many parts of the world doing theological preachings, so it is that he does know the world and how everyone should be in harmony-something that we'll need for one to qualify as a leader in today's world... (You see what I'm getting at?)

It is still early, but what a surprise, and in addition, if you can get at the furry world as most of the population is from America, and it can be of 97,000 or up to 110,000 participants, they would have a good sense of salve that someone is represented if they follow Christianity and not be in a clan that is of heresy. I did hear from someone that it is possible that the new Pope will influence the 47th President in decision making- NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. And to see that he would be well-travled before taking the job, he'd be used to what his responsabilities are, and he would take the FF'dom if he ever gets exposed to it easily.
We wil see what happens as this is still fresh, but though Pope Francis would be a little bummed from where he is when he heard the news, I think he would give Pope Leo XIV a chance to be a good leader of the Church and if he can via the Holy Spirit give such advice, he would.

And a last thing to furries that have the name "Leo" or even "Leon" have pride that you now share the name of the current Pope! Good luck in having that moniker if he does well for all parishoners that obey the Bible and believe the triune Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Examples are in those that I follow: Leon the fox of the Netherlands  spark-wolf/ leonthefox, and Leo the wolf  TheTWFZ) May God bless him in doing a good job keeping order to the Church and to have everyone grow in the hands of the Lord.
