Some years ago, I subjected myself to the labor of reading the Koran. It was even worse than I'd feared, with the chapters arranged by length, not any narrative or chronological order. Not that it really mattered, in this case. It all consisted of just 3 elements, endlessly repeated: stories, commands and threats. So many threats. I lost count around 1200, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were as many as 1500. Ole Mohammed can't go two paragraphs without a promise that infidels, christians, fornicators (who are not Mohammed himself - he wrote himself special exemptions from his own rules) etc, will burn in hell, eat filth for eternity, have melted metal poured over them, etc, etc.

Of course, Allah doesn't get to have ALL the fun. Moe is particularly gleeful when he describes the slaughters he himself caused: "How many cities we have laid in ruin! In the night our scourge fell upon them. or at midday when they were drowsing."
A way to make getting through this book a little less of a chore, is to check out the context. For example, one of his nine wives, Hafsah, once caught him in the act with a slave-girl. This particularly annoyed Hafsah, because the Prophet had previously promised her to end his "relationship" with the slave. It seems the promises of Prophets are worthless. But then, in an amazing coincidence, the all-powerful creator of the universe chose that very moment to dictate to Mohammed the 66th chapter of the Koran, called "Prohibition", where he blusters to the wives that "If you two turn to God in repentance (for your hearts have sinned), you shall be pardoned; but if you conspire against him, know that God is his protector."
He also warned those busybody wives that they could easily be replaced, just to drive the point home.

And how about when Mohammed's uncle, Abu-Lahab, hinted that Moe was making it all up? Allah to the rescue! He promptly dictated thru Mohammed chapter 111 of the Koran, the entire text of which reads: "May the hands of Abu-Lahab perish. May he himself perish! Nothing shall his wealth and gains avail him. He shall be burnt in a flaming fire, and his wife, laden with faggots, shall have a rope around her neck!"

Yes, slogging through this sociopath's self-serving rant is not much fun. But you must consider that after having done so, then every time some poor fool calls Islam a "religion of peace", you can enjoy a deep, rich laugh.
And let's not forget how Islam has profited the Western world. Much like how the rise to power of Christianity brought on the Dark Ages in Europe, Islam crushed progress in the Arab world - but with greater efficiency, and longer-lasting effect. There has been no Reformation in the Islamic world.
In the West, if a child showed intellectual promise, they were often sent to University, where they studied to be doctors, engineers, scientists, etc. Whereas in Islam, smart kids were sent to Madrassas, where they were taught to recite the Koran from beginning to end. Human tape-recorders. This did not advance their science or culture much.

So when the West's technology had advanced to the point where we had a use for the Middle East's oil, there wasn't much they could do to stop us from taking it. Thank YOU, Mohammed!
Ah, but then we went soft, and allowed the children of the Arab upper classes into Western universities. And sold them piles of advanced weapons and other technology. So things have evened out a little bit - the world is just too interconnected now, for it to be feasible to leave an entire population in the ghetto of ignorance they'd built for themselves. Iran even keeps teasing how they're gonna build a nuclear bomb. Yeah, like that's gonna happen.

I'm sure the usual crew of NPC's will scream "Aeee! You Islamophobe!" at me for this. Well suck it up folks, for everything writ here is the literal truth. But there is a question on my mind: I assume that most of the people who claim to respect Islam as a "religion of peace" do so because they know the exact opposite is true: They're afraid of being attacked by frothing-at-the-mouth Islamic fanatics, like the Charlie Hebdo murders, the stabbing of Salman Rushdie, and too many other such atrocities to count. Or even just being "canceled" by vicious online mobs. They're plain cowards (and hypocrites, of course).
But being afraid of murderous fanatics (or their online fan clubs) requires some ability of rational thought. You have to be able to think into the future, to imagine yourself being thus attacked. But I know a lot of people have no such thinking ability. So why do THEY cheer for Islam? If it's not cowardice, what is it? Is it mindless adherence to Political Correctness?
