I got one of those, but I knew the guy didn't make games. As a general rule, it's recommended not to click on any links from Discord.

Ouch! You have to be very careful with that. They almost got me once, but I noticed something strange in the person's attitude and blocked him. Later, I found out he had been hacked as well, and his account had been used to snare others.

Was it my old account?

no it was someone else's account that was hacked and used to bait me into downloading a "game review"
I feel so dumb. The irony is, this was normal conversations from people I've had in the past with chat. I feel
so gullible.

Update: I just received a PM from your account with the same story "I want to surprise my friend for his birthday"
I blocked it. Should I report it? I don't know if this would help you recover the account.

I tried to report the account as hacked, but the system only gives me limited options to report specific things, like illegal content or bullying. I'm sorry I could not be more helpful.

Yeah. I just got a series of messages from you with the same copy and pasted message of wanting to help a friend who's an indie game developer. Luckily I sniffed it out.

Idk my senses told me it's a hack tbh, and you sounded odd. Then ignored me. Was so suspicious.
