Old hobbies die hard

So with the advent of the final fantasy magic the gathering set i have been hauled back into the fray after near a decade. I only really play commander, as chasing the meta is a path to financial ruin, anyone out there play? Or even have stories of a hobby you thought you quit but it hauled you back in?

I'm from the opposite side of the card game pond. I quit Yu-Gi-Oh in 2020, but I've been a full force collector and casual player since 2022 when Sprights came out. Power of the Elements was a really cool set with Sprights and Tearlaments and both decks rewarded really skilled play, which I way prefer to the 5 to 9 negate boards of 2020. I haven't played meta really since then, but instead, I've been playing Domain, which is like Yu-Gi-Oh Commander, but like. Cheap. I thought I'd quitted Yu-Gi-Oh for good back in 2020 because I thought infinite negates was the future. No, the future instead is fun, yet high complexity combo decks. I wish Yu-Gi-Oh was simpler, but the game IS genuinely in a better place then it was 5 years ago
