Do you know how this impersonator operated? It may be the same imposter I dealt with when I bid on a YCH from Phallusbro. They friend requested me on discord out of nowhere pretending to be the artist, telling me the YCH was ending early because of a family emergency, that they needed the money via Friends and Family, and they sent a money request instead of an invoice.

The discord handle and email they used is probably no good, but I did get a screenshot of the paypal name they used for the money request

The victim told me that's exactly how the impersonator scammed them, through Discord and saying something about "family emergency". It's possible it might be the same person.

I'm betting it is. I thankfully caught on before actually paying in my case. Get in touch with the victim and see if they can get a screenshot of the paypal name attached to the money request. Maybe we can nail the guy

I’ve seen lots of postings like this. It’s been very common and a big reason I got my Discord shut down to open messages and refuse all friend requests I don’t know. I don’t know how people are getting connected to YCH’s they are bidding on and their discord though. That’s weird and disturbing. Unless they are open posting their contact information on FA and then that’s just opening the door to trouble.

As a Public service announcement to the public at large, it’s always best if you aren’t absoultuty sure you know it is that person, be sure to get ahold of an account you know is the person they are claiming to be to always be safe and confirm.

Heck, didn't know asking people to send the money as 'friend and family' was against TOS. I always asked them because there were instances in the past where it took weeks for the money to arrive, and friends and family always received it instantly. Not to mention that it doesn't have an extra taxation fee.

It's not against TOS, it's just the favored choice for scammers because friends and family payments have no buyer protection. You can't get a refund through PayPal, you can't dispute or contest the payment, none of that. If someone can trick you into sending them money via friends and family, there's nothing you can do about it. That money is just gone.

Ah alright. Yeah, I knew of the latter risk. Hence, I always show progress in the development of a commission and make sure they know how I work. And, if needed, refer to some past customers of mine who can vouch for me, if needed.

Had something similar happen to  Ketty not long ago too with someone trying to impersonate her and scam people, myself included. Had a note sent to me on a YCH I had supposedly "won" a year ago. I just reported it immediately to FA staff and they took swift action on it.

There's been a huge uptick in scammers and impersonators who are specifically targeting Furs in the past couple of years, and I recommend you people to double check who they are communicating with.
