SCAM ALERT!!!! PLEASE READ, EVERYONE! YCH SNIPERS!
Yesterday
Roman_Rodent won a slot in my YCH and then he recieved a friend request in discord from the account impersonating me! (mizutymoore and mine is mizuty_moore and its in my bio).
The scammer asked the customer to use Xoom on Paypal, this is a scammer method so you cannot return money from paypal (Roman_Rodent found this post on reddit about it https://www.reddit.com/r/passive_in.....ive_and_awful/)
Luckily, Roman_Rodent suspected this is a scam and sent me a note to verify so no big damage was done. I will attach their screenshots showing the chat with the scammer.
This guy has really made his research! He even knew the details of my old paypal (tho made a little mistake in it) and used it to convince the victim. And he was speaking just like me. This is creepy af to be honest, I'm still in shock that someone would go all the way like this.
Please, spread the word, this is super important and people are actually getting scammed for big money like this and it's horrifying. Warn the artists too!
Always be careful and cautious , double check the account who are you speaking with, check the bio and links to discord, telegram, etc! This can happen to everyone!

And most importantly, all of my links are in my bio, discord, telegram, twitter (X), so always check it please!
Thank you!

Just wanted to say that if you have your social contacts on your profile, these kinds of guys will try and getcha'! So just be on your toes when they ask weird stuff. Lol
Hope those those piece of shit will get what they deserve. π‘
Anyway i'll inform people on my side about this.
Hope so too ><
Everyone will have to face them at least one time at some point π
Always be on your guard people !
1) They're overly polite.
Using please, thank you, and all that WAY too much usually means they're trying to give off a good vibe and not seem like a scammer. Even if they're someone you know, by extension or planing to meet like in this situation, it's best just to speak the way you normally do.
2) Bad english (in my case)
This should be obvious. All those scam emails and phone calls should tell you that if their english isn't up to snuff, they might be sus. It could very well be that they're not a native english speaker and they're using a translator, which could ALSO be sus, so play it safe.
I had an interaction with someone who only spoke spanish and used google translate. That's fine.
3) If they DM you out of nowhere and you don't know them at all
On a creator's case, this could very well be a commissioner looking to get work from you, like with me. But if you're just a normal dude, any one DMing you out of the blue is automatically sus.
If they start with one of these phrases:
"Hi how are you?"
"Hello, how is it going?"
"Greetings friend"
THEY ARE SOMEONE TRYING TO GET MONEY
Now, this guy did his frickin research. Props to him for that. That doesn't excuse that he's doing it, though.
but yep always double check !
" Just found out that they do not have a physical address. So they dont even exist outside of the cloud. " / " Xoom is a Oneway service, there is no money back once the receiver receives it. " yeah no thank you XD Always look up any weird payment service request, even before considering it at all.
But good thing Roman was cautious, always doing the same with double checking every single commission. All the Hi there, I like your char can I draw, Hows you, out of the blue notes just get sent to valhalla.
Be on your guard everyone, they are super desperate to get your money one way or another.
After removing my contacts from my public profile, I have not been scammed since.
it is important to clarify which are the official accounts and to make it clear that those people are not you.
I hope you can solve it (β'β‘'β)
