A few times i see it happen to me on bluesky and i just kinda shrug it, but never happened to me on FA before-

Posting journals with literally any personal thought or preference can immediately piss someone off enough to click a button, that's all it really is.

i just thought i couldn't see the submissions of one who blocked me, maybe that one just didn't have anything posted?

edit: and sometimes I'm scared that the mobile interface will make me hit the block button instead of the favs or journals or commissions or notes buttons

It's only happened to me once; technically twice since the same person blocked me on both their accounts, just out of the blue. Apparently, it's not too uncommon from them, because I've heard from others that they just do that sometimes ^^;

Seems to be a trend for me on BlueSky I've noticed. No clue why. I like to think I'm at least a half decent individual, but... who knows.

Had that happen one time on FA, someone I never interacted with afaik.
On bluesky saw some blocked posts, but you can't tell who it is, the post is just completely obscured unless you somehow find the source profile, so whatever. Best not investigate how many have blocked you or put you on le bad horrid people lists, not worth the stress to care what internet morons think.

I tend to assume they are either insane, evil, had indigestion and were grumpy, you name it. It's their freedom to block whoever for whatever reason and it's my freedom to assume why, and I will choose the version that suits me. So If you've never interacted with them and therefore can't be much at fault, why not start reframing the situation in your favor. Maybe this method will be effective for you as well.

When you get blocked without prior interaction, you're left with a feeling of guilt and suspicion and the environment is hostile, there is no closure and can't even ask why. But this may be beneficial, some of these people are actually vile and obsessive - which is why they proactively block so many accounts, either out of hate or fear. Interacting with them may be dangerous or unpleasant, let them isolate themselves.

I feel FA will implement a deeper blocking system to the point you will not be able to see the artwork posted on these accounts. I don't think these systems are healthy long term as they allow unsavory and mentally unstable individuals to feel comfortable on the site - normally you just will see things you don't like, I think it's important for that to happen if you don't want tribalism and hate towards whatever the horrid group of the month is, see twitter drama and bluesky with user lists for example

I got blocked once it turned out it was from a journal I wrote that came out to strong. I am glad I spoke to the person that blocked. From art to journals, people can block you for anything. I like to reach out to understand if possible, but do not need to go overboard. Being blocked does not bother me but I usually like to know why.

People think you are proferal? Block!
People think you are antiferal? Block!
People hate your kinks? Block!
People hate your religious/political views? Block!
People hate insects? Block!

You can never please everyone.
